Torreira and Monreal to start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Arsenal XI to face Chelsea on Saturday

Predicted Arsenal line-up to face Chelsea in the Premier League

Arsenal were unable to get past Champions Manchester City in the last game as the Cityzens ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates. The Gunners now face Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea this weekend as both Unai Emery and the Italian gear up for their first-ever London Derby.

Chelsea looked impressive in their opening 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town. While Sarri will be aiming to maintain their positive start, Unai Emery will be itching to get his first win as an Arsenal manager.

Team News

Unai Emery saw Ainsley Maitland-Niles limp off in the previous game. The youngster is out for 6-8 weeks. Nacho Monreal has returned to training and could be handed a start at left-back.

Apart from that, the manager has no real concerns to worry about ahead of his first London derby as Arsenal manager. The Gunners have failed to score in four of their last five visits to Stamford Bridge and that’s something Emery will be aiming to change.

Probable Arsenal XI

Manager: Unai Emery

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Petr Cech (GK)

Though the former Chelsea man took much of the blame last game, his experience is unrivalled. Leno is not yet ready to make his Arsenal bow, which should see Cech retain his place.

Hector Bellerin (RB)

Bellerin tends to show up in big games and this is the one where Unai Emery would want the player to prove himself.

Shkodran Mustafi (CB)

The German looked slightly shaky at the back but is expected to start again this weekend given that Koscielny is out until November.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB)

The Greek international looked solid at the back and will be aiming for a repeat performance against the Blues this weekend.

Nacho Monreal (LB)

Injury to Ainsley Maitland-Niles should see Monreal return to the starting line-up. He was in impressive form towards the end of last season and should be handed a start here.

Lucas Torreira (RCM)

The Uruguayan looked calm and composed on the ball after coming on a substitute against City. He should be given his first Arsenal start this weekend.

Granit Xhaka (LCM)

Xhaka seems to have nailed down his spot at the club and will now be aiming to pick up some form under the new manager.

Mesut Ozil (RAM)

The German is way too crucial to Arsenal’s set-up and cannot be left out. His creative nous and vision will play a huge role in the Gunners’ chances to win.

Aaron Ramsey (CAM)

One of the most consistent players for Arsenal over the years, if Ramsey can get over his fitness issues and play regular football, there’s every chance the Gunners would win a trophy this sesson.

Aaron Ramsey

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (LAM)

The former Manchester United winger endured a disappointing game against the Cityzens but he should retain his place in the line-up against Chelsea.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ST)

The Gabon international should lead the line for the Gunners and will pose as their biggest threat going forward. He was in devastating form during pre-season and has every chance to pick up a goal against Sarri’s men.
