Top Three Goalkeepers Who Will Take The Premier League By A Storm Including Arsenal & Chelsea Stars

Share

With the brand new Premier League season set to kick off in under a month’s time we take a look at  the top three goalkeepers to look out for in the 2014-15 campaign.

David Ospina:

With the departure of Lukasz Fabianski from Arsenal, the London club, it must be said has done remarkable business already in the transfer market with Colombia’s World Cup star David Ospina making a switch to the Emirates for just £3m from French side Nice. The 25 year old will provide much needed competition to Wojciech Szczesny as last season suggested that competition tends to bring the best out of the Pole.  Szczesny produced some of his best Arsenal performances when Fabianski was repeatedly doing well in the FA cup. Ospina too is a sharp goalkeeper who has the unique shot stopping ability and also has the awareness to cut out angles.

Though Ospina is not quick his razor sharp reflexes indicate he has more than 3.48 saves per game and a save success of 80.2%. Moreover he conceded less goals than Szczesny, the latter who tends to get caught in no man’s land when coming out to grab crosses. Ospina however as the World Cup showed is very good in the air and should feature in more than cup games for Arsenal. Its becoming fashion now a days for top clubs across Europe to have two specialist goalkeepers in their squad.

Tim Krul:

The Dutch star would be eager to repeat his World Cup heroics in the upcoming Premier League season. Newcastle United finished a disappointing tenth in the standings last season but the Tyneside club’s summer signings have shown that Alan Pardew means business. The question would be can the Magpies qualify for a Europa league spot. Krul as it has to be said is great at coming out of his lines able to grab crosses from the wings, his distribution being superb too. There have been reports that the 26 year old went too far in the quarter final against Costa Rica shouting aggressively at the opposition players as they stepped up to take the penalties from the spot. Krul though later claimed that he did no wrong and was only within the lines with his powers of persuasion.

Thiabut Courtois:

The Belgian is certainly one of the brightest prospects in football at this moment and his loan spells with Atletico Madrid has certainly proved that he is already world class at such a tender age. There has been doubts over Petr Cech’s future at Stamford Bridge with manager Jose Mourinho eager to make Courtois his number one goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge. Cech though has warned the club as he won’t play second fiddle to Courtois saying, “I will not be a Chelsea bench-warmer”. The Czech international has already been linked with Monaco but reports have died down since the last few weeks. However to see Courtois perform in the English Premier League would be interesting as to whether he lives up to his expectations or not.
