Top 5 Transfers Premier League Summer Transfers

The Premier League might be off screen for a couple of weeks thanks to the International break, but this gives us some time to check out the action which has brought us to the edge of seats. One thing that would have surprised many are the performances by the so-called ‘smaller’ clubs. It seems that most of the teams have spent wisely and have brought in some quality players. We look at the top five performers from the badge of new signings in the Premier League so far.

5. Yohan Cabaye

A failure at PSG which might have led him to sign for his former manager Alan Pardew, Yohan Cabaye looks a player who is back to his best and enjoying his football for Crystal Palace. It certainly is remarkable that Palace could sign a French international from PSG and based on how he has performed so far, it has been a brilliant coup by the London club. Cabaye is playing to the best of his abilities and looks every bit the player who was mastering in Newcastle a few years ago.

4. Matteo Darmian

Matteo Darmian

One of the more economical signings that Manchester United have made so far this season but certainly he has been their best defender and possibly their best player. The Italian right-back has looked every bit a Premier League player despite joining from Torino in the off-season. Darmian has been incredible in his position and has rarely been beaten on the right side of United’s defence and should be one to watch out for the rest of the season.

3. Georginio Wijnaldum

Another player who could have moved to a bigger club, Wijnaldum ended up signing for the Magpies and this has been a great deal for Newcastle. We stated earlier that he would be a player to watch out for and that is exactly what the Dutch midfield has done, he looks brilliant in midfield and provides the team with another engine in midfield alongside Sissoko. Wijnaldum probably signed due to McClaren’s time at Holland and this has been an inspiring signing by the Newcastle manager.

2. Andre Ayew

A free transfer from Marseille, Ayew has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 for quite a few seasons and him moving to Swansea was certainly an eyebrow raiser but a goal against Chelsea and then a goal and an assist against Manchester United has proved that he can cut it with the best in the Premier League. Monk has certainly done well in the transfer window and Ayew could very well be the best signing of the window.

  1. Dimitri Payet

Ayew’s partner in crime at Marseille, Dimitri Payet also left the club and signed for a London team, before you think it is Chelsea or Arsenal, Payet signed for the new project at West Ham United under Slaven Bilic and he looks worth every pound that West Ham spent. The tricky attacker has shown that he is great with the ball at his feet and has also shown his ability with the dead ball, yet another inspiring signing by a new manager in the league.
