We would be looking at the overall score to rate the top five passers in the league and not just completed pass percentage.
Cesc Fabregas
Chelsea might not be having the best of seasons in this campaign but the ever reliant Cesc Fabregas has been one of the best passers of the ball this season. The Spaniard has a pass completion accuracy of 84% which isn’t the highest in the league but his average pass distance of 19 metres is one of the highest. He also averages 1.84 key passes per game, which clearly shows he has an attacking intent as well.
Samir Nasri
The French midfielder might not get the playing time that some of the other midfielders and attackers register in the Premier League, but he has been effective with his time on the pitch. Nasri has an average pass accuracy of 93% and notches up 72 passes per game for Manchester City.
Michael Carrick
Everyone must know by now how important Carrick is for Manchester United, he seems to have found a new lease on life under Louis van Gaal and his performances do the talking. He has an average pass completion rate of 90% and his pass length on average is on the high side with 19 metres. The Englishman also makes close to 70 successful passes per game, no wonder he seems to be the first player in the midfield for United.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
With one Manchester United player on the list, it can’t be a surprise that another one crops up the list. Bastian might be a new boy at the club but his old passing ways continue and with 72 successful passes per game and an accuracy of 86%, you can see just why Bastian is a part of this list. Plus his average pass length of 18 metres is one of the highest in the league.
Santi Cazorla
Cazorla might have started his career in an attacking role but the more time he has spent at Arsenal, the more he has played in midfield alongside a defensive midfielder. The Spaniard averages a whopping 3.64 key passes per game and has a pass accuracy of 91%, plus the number of successful passes is 77, which is the highest in the league and no wonder he is one of the best in the league.
