Top 5 Dirtiest Premier League Players This Season Featuring From Manchester United And Tottenham Stars

Share

The English Premier League is known for its toughness and roughness and coupled with its pace and tenacity, many agree it’s the most competitive league in the world.

Given that a lot of physicalities is involved, players foul and get to be fouled an awful lot. And with the 2016-17 becoming more and more intense, a keen look is taken at 5 players who have been the dirtiest off the ball during the tense battles and clashes on the pitch.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

As opposed to what many would have earlier predicted, it’s the Swede that is topping the most-fouls-committed charts in the club and across the league, not the usual suspect Fellaini.

The 35-year-old was booked for the 5th time this season during last weekend’s win against Swansea. As a result and according to the rules, he is set to miss out on the high-profile match against Arsenal this weekend.

Zlatan has committed 26 fouls already, but has, as expected risen to the defense of himself. In his words,

“I thought in England we play rough. No? That’s what I heard. Every time I’ve tried to play rough I get a yellow card. “

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited owes Zlatan an apology. Take a wild guess at  if you believe Zlatan will miss another game due to suspension as the season goes on.

Paul Pogba

Following closely in the steps of his “big brother” and teammate is the world’s most expensive player.

With the France international having committed 24 fouls, most United fans would be quick to crucify the player whom much more has been expected from since making his heralded return to Old Trafford.

Pogba is just a booking away from getting the automatic 1-match ban and has at least done well to prevent it before the coming showdown against Arsenal.

Gareth Barry

The 5 yellow cards accrued by the Everton vice-captain and EPL veteran go well with the 24 fouls he has inflicted on innocent opponents this term.

Barry could as well be topping this list given his knack of setting records. Currently, 3rd on the EPL all-time appearances list, this Guinness World Record holder for most EPL starts (580) is also the most cautioned player in Premier League history (116).

Gareth will as well sure do well to go down in history as the most dirtiest EPL player of all time, and is currently 2nd on the list with 581 fouls committed.

Victor Wanyama

What is this blacklist without the name of Kenya national team captain on it?

Wanyama is a tough and reckless tackler as they come, and has committed 24 fouls thus far. Unsurprisingly, he is just 3 yellow cards away from getting his usual 1-match bans.

It’s definitely one of many of such to come.

Vincent Janssen

Last season’s highest goalscorer in the Eredivisie hasn’t been able to hit the ground running since arriving White Hart Lane in the summer.

However, he made this list with 23 fouls committed, but the Spurs faithful would appreciate if he can channel his unique ability of rough handling defenders to finding the back of the net having scored just once – a spot kick in 11 EPL appearances.

Surprisingly, the Dutch international has kept it clean on the official’s report sheets, and managed to evade getting into the referees’ book as he hasn’t been booked at all.
