Top 3 Strikers Who Will Complete This Chelsea Side In Summer

Share

Chelsea are in the need of striking reinforcements in the summer owing to the struggles of their strikers this season, and here are three options they should look at.

3. Jackson Martinez

The Porto hitman has had a fine couple of seasons since joining the Portuguese giants from Mexican side Chiapas in the summer of 2012, and has since then gone on to net 52 goals in 72 appearances for them. The Colombian is one of the highly sought after strikers in the continent, and such an excellent goal return makes him an attractive target for most major clubs.

Porto have a history of letting their best players go, and have done so in the past, since their business model requires financing the expenses with a marquee sale each season, and this summer it might well be Martinez’s turn. Chelsea have been linked with him in the past, and Mourinho will surely consider returning to the Portuguese league to cherry-pick one of its brightest talents.

2. Diego Costa

Diego Costa

The Brazil-born striker has been heavily linked with the Blues in the last couple of windows and there are suggestions that he may be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer to add some much needed goal threat to the Chelsea front-line. He has managed to score 25 goals in 29 appearances for Atletico this season, and is in the running for the highest scorer of La Liga with 20 goals.

The striker has recently obtained Spanish citizenship, and is likely to be called up to the Spain squad for the World Cup. His aggressive and physically imposing style combined with his ability to dribble past players make him the perfect fit for Mourinho’s Chelsea, and he’s likely to be the new Drogba in the current Chelsea team.

1. Radamel Falcao

Falcao

He was one of the most feared and complete strikers on the planet, but has slipped under the radar slightly with his move to Ligue 1 newcomers Monaco. While he has maintained his impressive strike rate at the French side, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances, he is currently sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery last month.

The Colombian striker is lethal in the box and he can complement his outstanding finishing with creativity and flair when required. He is equally adept at being at the right place at the right time to tap of nod the ball home, or can belt in a screamer from 20 yards when the chance arises. He is comfortable playing as the focal point of the attack, and will be the perfect choice to spearhead the flamboyant attack that Chelsea have assembled.
