Time To Let Go: Manchester United Should Sell These 3 Stars In The Coming Season

Share

With Louis Van Gaal set to take over as Manchester United manager in the summer post the World Cup, wanton changes are expected at Old Trafford. A new era is set to be ushered as the Dutch legend looks to get United back on track after a decent 2013-14 campaign. Here are the three players Manchester United should sell in the summer.

Javier Hernandez:

The Mexican striker has been relegated to the fourth choice in the pecking order after Sir Alex Ferguson landed Robin Van Persie from Arsenal. His faith in Danny Welbeck as the go-to man when either of Rooney or RVP is injuried has further hampered his first team chances and it was the same under David Moyes in the Red Devils’ disastrous 2013-14 season.

Hernandez only featured in just eight starts (21 appearances overall) scoring  4 goals and grabbing 3 assists in the process. Overall Chicarito has scored 59 goals in 153 appearances for United having a strike rate of 0.38. The 26 year old has been linked with Inter Milan, who under new owner, Erik Thohir, are desperate to bring in reinforcements in the summer. With Louis Van Gaal now in charge of the Old Trafford outfit, Hernandez’s career at United is at crossroads and in the best interests of both parties the player might opt to head for the exit. Mexican coach Miguel Herrera is also worried over his main striker’s form but has insisted that a quarter final appearance is a likely target.

Luis Nani:

There were earlier reports that Nani, who featured in just 11 appearances under David Moyes, is a Juventus target who are desperate to mount a Champions League challenge after three successive Serie A titles in a row. Nani, 27 was also linked with Portuguese giants Benfica but Jorge Jesus’ side had played down interests regarding a move for the winger.  The Bianconerii manager Antonio Conte believes that Nani will play a key role in his effective and attacking 4-3-3 setup, a subtle change from the 3-5-2 formation at Turin. The Portuguese who is desperate to play a starring role for his country in the upcoming World Cup is apparently frustrated with the lack of chances at Old Trafford.

Tom Cleverley:

Talking about the English international, much was expected out of him, but Cleverley has turned out to be a target of filthy internet jokes thanks to his disastrous performances, despite being touted to take over the mantle from Paul Scholes. It was earlier reported that the 24 year old has no future under Louis Van Gaal and was also being looked upon by Everton who could hand the midfielder game time at Goodison park next season.

It is a shame that Cleverley has been listed as one of the standby players in England’s World Cup squad and following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s knee injury during a friendly game against Ecuador, Cleverley has a chance to make the final cut.
