Arsenal got back to winning ways at the Emirates after a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double and late Alex Iwobi strike gave them a victory over Burnley on Saturday.
The Gunners lost to Southampton in the Premier League and Tottenham in the League Cup in their past two matches but the 3-1 victory moved them to 37 points.
The match got off to a quick start with chances at both ends inside the opening two minutes, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles first testing Joe Hart before Burnley went straight up the other end and fired wide through Ashley Westwood. However, it was Arsenal who created the better chances and Granit Xhaka forced Hart into a routine save with his long-range drive in the eighth minute.
Continuous pressure finally paid off for the Gunners in the 14th minute when Mesut Ozil, who was recalled into the starting line-up, opened up the Burnley defence with a crisp pass to Sead Kolasinac, whose cut-back was fired home by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal began to dominate the game after taking the lead but they created fewer chances when compared to the opening few minutes. An injury-ravaged Arsenal defence was struck by another blow towards the end of the half as Nacho Monreal limped off to be replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner.
It took only three minutes after the restart for the home side to double their money following a swift counter-attack that saw Alexandre Lacazette feed Aubameyang. The Gabonese lashed home the goal with a powerful finish.
Burnley pulled one back through Ashley Barnes, who could have been sent off earlier, as he fired home a loose ball in the 63rd minute after Arsenal failed to clear a cross.
However, as Burnley pushed for a late equaliser, Unai Emery’s Arsenal wrapped up the three points as Alex Iwobi smashed home from close range after some great work by Ozil.
Delighted after getting back to winning ways, here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter.
