Three Transfer Ins and Outs That Might Happen At West Ham

The January transfer window has started off in quiet fashion but it will not take any time for it to reach its depth, as transfer deals and paperwork both go hand in hand every day. It is observed that this window is usually exploited and used by teams at the bottom, some of them who try to add important players to their side and others, who sign to avoid the panic. Last term, Swansea and Crystal Palace invested in January and banked on their winter signings to help them survive the drop.

West Ham are a side that need to add depth in quite a few areas where quality has gone down to a certain effect. Some of the areas where they could improve with the help of reinforcements are at central midfield, right-back and the forward area. David Moyes’ signings proved to be duds when he was at Sunderland, as they failed to avoid relegation from the Premier League. This winter, he needs to turn things around at West Ham to meet the fans’ expectations.

Ins

Joe Allen

He is one man who can add a lot of fluidity and passing accuracy in the West Ham ranks. The Welshman’s name has been buzzing a lot of late and if he decides to move away from a hapless Stoke City side, West Ham could be a fine destination. Allen is composed with the ball at his feet, picks passes early, brings a lot of teammates into play and dictates business.

Defensively, he is very quick to react, teams up with the other holding midfielders to tackle and reads the game exceptionally well. Not all West Ham midfielders possess the vision and creativity of this man. The 27-year-old’s hard-working nature, ability to cover ground quickly and work tirelessly could be an important asset to Moyes’ style of football.

Outs

Andy Carroll

Shockingly, Chelsea have been linked with Andy Carroll. Conte has clearly been unhappy with Michy Batshuayi and has not chosen him many a time even during Morata’s absence. He is a huge admirer of Andy Carroll and Fernando Llorente type of strikers – physical, top class hold-up play, bring the wingers into action and finish off chances with ease. Carroll has still got it in him and is arguably one of the best at heading and attacking the ball, which could improve Chelsea’s record even more – most headed goals this season in PL.

Diafra Sakho

More than half of the Hammers’ bench consists of strikers including the likes of Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew and at times, Michail Antonio or Marco Arnautovic (who can both play upfront). Moyes doesn’t really use more than one striker and of late too, the ex-Manchester United boss hasn’t preferred Sakho at all.

In order to resurrect his career, he needs to exit the London stadium as he is way behind his teammates. Sakho is a confidence player who runs in behind the defenders, always being up for the challenge. He is a real set piece threat too. A few fellow strugglers in the league could invest in him.
