Three Transfer Deals That Burnley Are Expected To Complete This Summer

Burnley were the surprise package of this past Premier League season. When they were promoted back to the top flight, not many gave them a chance of a survival, despite them finishing as the title winners of the EFL Championship in 2015/16 season. But against all odds, they managed to avoid the drop and quite comfortably so.

Sean Dyche’s side finished the season placed 16th and if not for a defeat in the final week, they would’ve easily ended higher up the table. It was a good season for the Clarets – a season filled with hard work and dedication that earned them their reward. Now, they need to build upon the strong platform that they have laid.

The transfer window will play a huge role in Burnley’s season shaping up next season. They broke the club transfer records last summer to bring in the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Steven Defour, and Johann Berg-Gudmundsson and achieved decent success. Another strong transfer window will set the tone for a good campaign, but there are good chances of them losing a few of their best performers as well.

Here we bring you three transfer deals that are likely to go through in the upcoming window at the Turf Moor:

Michael Keane To Manchester United

The speculations surrounding Michael Keane’s exit have been going on for months now. The 24-year old has been brilliant for the Clarets over the past two seasons and has attracted interests from all the Premier League bigwigs including former club Manchester United.

As per reports from The Sun, Keane could be heading back to the Old Trafford for a fee of £25million in the summer. Dyche and club chairman Michael Garlick have both gone on record stating that they will not be selling him unless the club feels the offer is right, but it increasingly looks like Keane has played his last game for the Clarets and a hero’s welcome awaits at the Old Trafford next season.

Andre Gray To Everton

The 25-year old striker is another one who is being heavily pursued by fellow Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Newcastle United (Daily Star). Gray has been excellent for Burnley since joining from Brentford and played a huge role in their promotion last year and has been important for them in the Premier League as well.

The Englishman ended the campaign with 10 goals across all competitions and Everton are pursuing him strongly, as they look to replace the outgoing Romelu Lukaku. While Spurs also remain interested, the fact that he will have to play second fiddle to Harry Kane there, might lead to him choosing a move to the Goodison Park instead.

Marley Watkins From Barnsley (Free Transfer)

With the future of George Boyd uncertain, Burnley are in the market for a wide player and as per reports from the Wales Online, the Clarets have zeroed in on out-of-contract Barnsley winger Marley Watkins.

The 26-year old finished the season with 10 goals and 9 assists from 42 games for the Tykes who finished 14th in the Championship. The Welsh winger is an excellent dribbler of the ball and has chipped in with vital goals and has created plenty from the right flank. While Boyd may have been extremely hardworking, he did not offer much in terms of goals. With Watkins, that will be an added dimension to the Clarets attack and the fact that he will be coming in for free would make him a shrewd addition if a deal is completed.
