Watch Out For Them: 3 Tottenham Stars Who Are Crucial For Their Team In The Business End of the Season

Share

Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the best teams in England this season. Despite crashing out of European competitions prematurely, the North Londoners have been excellent in the Premier League and find themselves in at second place in the league table, behind runaway leaders Chelsea. They are also in contention for the FA Cup, having made it to the quarterfinals stage, where they will be facing Millwall.

Under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham have come a long way forward and are headed towards becoming one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The Argentine tactician has a young and vibrant squad at his disposal and has turned them into a force to be reckoned with. The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and almost every other member of the squad has stepped up for the team when needed and performed consistently.

However, it is around this period that Tottenham slipped last season. From being a contender for the title, they ended up finishing in third place, behind rivals Arsenal, much to the chagrin of the fans. It is unlikely that Spurs will repeat such a mistake again this season, but they need to excise caution as we approach the end of the season. Here are three players who we need to keep an eye out for, in the upcoming months:

Harry Kane

The 23-year old is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season, having scored 19 times so far and looks set for the Golden Boot Award.

Kane has been the most prolific striker in the league this season. The Englishman had missed a good chunk of games earlier in the season due to injury worries but has still managed to outscore his competitors, despite them playing more games. His form in front of goal has given Tottenham a huge advantage.

For the Lilywhites to finish second this time around, Kane will need to keep firing, like he has done in recent weeks. With the Golden Boot Award as an added incentive at the end of the season, he would want to continue his rich vein of form.

Dele Alli

The last year’s PFA Young Player of the Year has carried on from where he left off last season. The 20-year old Alli had taken the Premier League by storm last season and by the looks of it, the storm doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.

Alli has already scored 13 times in the league this season, bettering his tally of 10 strikes from last season. In the process, he also became the fastest midfielder to reach 20 goals in the league, overtaking some legendary names along the way. The midfielder has also assisted three goals this season and has been one of the main driving forces for Tottenham going forward.

If Alli continues the same level of performances, there is no doubt that he will be right up there in contention for the PFA Young Player of the Year honour and possibly even the PFA Player of the Year award.

Vincent Janssen

The 22-year old Dutchman has struggled in his first season in England after arriving with so much promise, during the summer, from AZ Alkmaar.

Janssen has managed to score just one goal in the Premier League so far from 19 appearances, that too from the penalty spot. In fact, all of his six strikes across all competitions have come from penalties. Having failed to make any valuable contribution so far, his suitability and the adaptability to the way Tottenham play have been questioned time and again.

With clouds hanging over his future at the club, these last three months of the season will be extremely crucial for the Dutchman. If he can find some form and contribute with a few goals in the run in to the season end, he will go a long way in saving his future at White Hart Lane.
