Three Things An Arsenal Fan Must Do In His/Her Life

Share

Being just a follower of Arsenal FC is an easy job. But being a hardcore/devotional fan of this football club is not that easy as being a normal follower. It’s more like a dreamy ride in a million mile roller coaster that ends only when you die.  You have to jump, you have to cry, you have to shout. Sometimes it’s Euphoria and sometimes it’s total numbness. In simple words, being a true fan is like having a mini-life within your normal life.

Three Things An Arsenal Fan Must Do In His/Her Life

1. Watch A Match At Emirates/ Or at-least Dream about it.

Emirates Stadium

Most of the Gooners in Britain would have already watched a game at Emirates but Arsenal have millions of global fan base who have never set their feet at the grove. It’s understandable that some fans cannot afford a cosy trip to London, in that case, at-least dream about it. Dream yourself wearing the Red and white colours, and singing “We’re by Far the Greatest Team the World Has Ever Seen…” in a North London derby where even hell will tremble fearing the high-pitched chants from the fans.

2. Visit HIGBURY (Square)

‘I always wanted to play in English football and Arsenal and Highbury IS English football to me.’ – Dennis Bergkamp. (source: truegooner)

‘Highbury is like my garden. There’s just something about Highbury that is difficult to describe. When you first arrive, you hardly see the stadium and wonder where it is but then you find it between two blocks of flats.’ – Henry (source: worldsoccer

Highbury (1951)

The above quotes from the club’s finest legends speaks for itself. Highbury is more than a football stadium. It was a temple, where Arsenal gods lived once. Even though the temple was bulldozed and gods vacated, the soul of Highbury will remain forever.

Highbury Square

If you are not lucky enough to visit the real Highbury, at least make a trip  to Highbury square and have a look at the remains of  the beautiful stadium

3. Watch/Read Fever Pitch

Finally an easy one. You can do this while sitting in your armchair, drinking coke and eating chips. But make sure you have watched it at least once. Fever Pitch: A Fan’s Life is a 1992 autobiographical book by British author Nick Hornby. Later it was made into a movie in 1997.

Its a heart-rending story of a Gooner and his emotional involvement with Arsenal FC. It revolves around  the 1988-89 season in which Arsenal won the league in a dramatic fashion with a last minute goal from from Michael Thomas. Thomaass……It’s up for grabs now………Thomaaaaaaasssssssss. Unbelievable.
