Marcos Alonso
The Spaniard was brought in by Chelsea on the deadline day and his signing was clouded with plenty of doubts and was largely branded as a panic buy from new manager Antonio Conte. However, Alonso has gone about silencing his doubters with some excellent displays for the league leaders throughout the season.
But his best performance so far in the Chelsea Blues’ came against Leicester City on Saturday. The left wing-back was in inspirational form, cutting in from the left-flank to devastating effect. Alonso scored the opener for the Blues in as early as the 6th minute, before doubling his tally six minutes into the second-half. He should have had his hat-trick, but sent his volleyed effort whizzing past the post.
While he was a nuisance for the Foxes defence throughout the night, he never shied away from his defensive duties and was as solid as they come. His performance against Claudio Ranieri’s side was indicative of his growing confidence and influence at the Stamford Bridge.
