Liverpool Or Manchester United? Who Should James Rodriguez Join This Summer

The summer transfer window is surely going to see some top class players switch allegiances to other clubs in Europe and there are many names who are just waiting for the green light. One such player is Colombian international James Rodriguez.

The playmaker rose to the limelight with his fearless performances for the national side in the World Cup in Brazil, which helped him earn a move to the Bernabeu. But in the three years he has been at the club, he has failed to establish himself in the first team, even after producing some productive performances in Spain.

He is not a part of the Real Madrid pre-season squad and has constantly been linked with an exit. PSG are the outsiders for his signature while Manchester United seem really keen. But one team that has now been extensively linked with a move for Rodriguez, is Liverpool.

The Anfield outfit have already spent on Egyptian star Mohamed Salah this summer but reports suggest that he has been offered to the Reds for around £66m, which could be a steal in this transfer market.

With the two great rivals in English football battling to sign the same player, which is the most suitable destination for the player himself?

Jose Mourinho

At 25, he is an established star with all the skills and tricks in the book. Versatile and smart, the Colombian is a genuine goal scorer who can find the back of the net from different angles and ranges even from outside the box. He is also adept at setting his teammates up and is one of the toughest players to mark in pressure situations.

His dribbling and passing skills will improve any team in the continent and United are reportedly ready to make a £62m bid for his services this summer. But at Old Trafford, Rodriguez is not expected to be the first choice with Manchester United having already spent on Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian should lead the attacking line for his side, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford all fighting for the two places behind Lukaku. They are also looking at Ivan Perisic, making it even harder for Rodriguez to settle into the first team.

Jurgenn Klopp

Liverpool are also in a similar situation with Salah and Sadio Mane hogging the wings. Philippe Coutinho is expected to play in the midfield three next season, while Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Divock Origi will fight for the striker’s role.

But the Reds are out of options in the midfield apart from Coutinho and Rodriguez could fight his place into the first team after just a month of impressing Klopp. The Reds are expected to compete on all four fronts next season and will need all the quality they can acquire, and Rodriguez fits the bill perfectly.

Playing for a manager like Klopp, and that with a chance to replace Coutinho, is the perfect opportunity for the Real Madrid man to establish himself at the highest level yet again.

James Rodriguez should choose Liverpool over Manchester United if he has decided to leave Real Madrid this summer.
