Tiemoue Bakayoko or Fabinho – Who Is Going To Be An Ideal Signing For Mourinho’s Manchester United

Chelsea and Manchester United have been engaged in a heated transfer battle regarding Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku who has been snatched by the former Blues gaffer Jose Mourinho, from Chelsea’s grasp. Chelsea though, made a last-ditch effort to bring in their long term target from Everton, Lukaku, however, rejected a return to Premier League champions and decided to reunite with his former boss at Old Trafford.

If reports are believed to be true, the Portuguese tactician is after Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko – another prime Chelsea transfer target who had a scintillating campaign for the Ligue1 champions. Manchester United were pursuing a move for his teammate Fabinho, but the talks have been cooled down for now, and Mourinho has shifted his focus on the 22-year old French international. Fabinho and Bakayoko partnered each other exquisitely in the middle of the park and either of them will be an invaluable addition for the English heavyweights.

Fabinho had an unsuccessful spell at Real Madrid prior to his switch to Monaco. The 23-year old Brazilian, who started his career as a right back, was shifted to the midfield by Portuguese gaffer Leonardo Jardim. Fabinho was praised for his balanced display as a right fullback but he impressed even more in the middle of the park with his all-round ability.

He screens his defence with his strong snatching as well as tackling attributes and holds on to the ball efficiently in the midfield. He has a strong sense of passing and an eye for goal. The Brazilian netted 10 times for Monaco last term across all competitions and also linked up beautifully with the likes of Thomas Lemar, Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao up front.

Bakayoko, on the other hand, is a deep-lying playmaker who has strong intercepting and tackling skills along with great physical and aerial presence. He can be a long term replacement of Michael Carrick, the 35-year old veteran, and form a lethal partnership in midfield alongside fellow countryman Paul Pogba.

Matteo Darmian, the Red Devils right back, is expected to depart after a couple of unconvincing seasons and Fabinho can replace him in that role as well. He is good at going forward and has strong crossing attributes. But the Brazilian is equally good while performing his defensive duties and tracks back down the right flank with his enormously energetic display. His flexibility makes him an ideal option for Mourinho who is eyeing to restore United’s legacy with high profile signings.

Bakayoko or Fabinho? We say Fabinho.
