Manchester United opinion: Red Devils want Adrien Rabiot – Good move?

The rot in Manchester United is simply incredible and it will take Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a lot of time to change things. Jose Mourinho’s tenure saw the Portuguese manager do well in his second season before suffering the eventual third season blues.

It saw Manchester United struggle to do much and he was eventually sacked by mid-December. That culminated in Solskjaer’s appointment and while he did sort things out for a while, things took a rather nasty turn after he signed the permanent deal.

He finished his season with two wins, two draws and three losses. It changed things and now Solskjaer has a lot to do and has the time to do it with the summer window open.

They’ve been linked with a myriad of players from Jadon Sancho, Kalidou Koulibaly and Antoine Griezmann. It’s been a summer of rumours for the club but given the list of players, the club has to make atleast one player a top signing.

And given their troubles in midfield, Adrien Rabiot would be the perfect option. The Daily Star has reported that the Red Devils are looking to make the Frenchman a top target, especially with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

A regista by trade, the former Manchester City youth star has been used as a central midfielder for PSG alongside Marco Verratti and Marquinhos. But Rabiot’s ability to dictate play and his eye for a pass makes him able to play as a double pivot or even a single pivot for the Ligue 1 outfit.

And alongside Matic or Pogba, it would be a brilliant partnership for Manchester United. Combine that with Rabiot’s age and it does give the Red Devils a chance to win the race for a player that would fit in immediately at the club.

Furthermore, with Ander Herrera leaving the club and Fred struggling to make an impact, they need someone who can do both the offensive and the defensive part of the game.

Rabiot can do exactly that and he has the added bonus of being a free transfer, which will help the club save some money.

Conclusion

Adrien Rabiot is just the free-transfer that Manchester United need to help them move forward and while his wages will cost a pretty penny, it’s an affordable option.

However, this is a race that the Red Devils really need to win, especially if they want any chance at a Premier League title. Rabiot has the potential and talent to grow even more, which is something that the club should take advantage of.
