This attack-minded Portuguese tactician is the right man to lead Everton forward – agreed?

With Sam Allardyce getting sacked as Everton manager despite their 8th-place finish, the Toffees are on the hunt for someone who can bring exciting football back to Goodison Park.

If they are to bring that back, however, they will need a manager who is tactically astute with an ability to transition defence to attack with purpose. One manager who can bring the same is Marco Silva.

The Portuguese manager has been lauded by many journalists, ex-players and managers alike, and for good reason. He is capable of setting his teams up to play superb attacking football that thrives on pace and incisive passing.

Despite his misgivings defensively, Silva was able to stand out at two different clubs – Watford and Hull City, which aren’t known for playing an attacking brand of football.

The right players need the right manager

On paper, Everton have an extremely strong squad. They have players who can change the game with their ability and they are just screaming out for a manager who can get them to play better together.

Marco Silva

The likes of Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Idrissa Gueye have proven ability and could become excellent playmakers under Silva’s tutelage.

Any new managerial appointment should be given a year, along with a summer to purchase the required players, and so Silva will be in a good spot if he moves. There are also players such as Nikola Vlasic who perfectly fit Silva’s style of cutting in and dictating the tempo with some cool passing ability.

Silva has shown that he can make players such as Kamil Grosicki and Tom Cleverley stand out when managed well and with a plethora of talent in the Everton squad at his disposal, he can work wonders.

Everton needs a manager who can make them play exciting football but is stable at the same time. Silva is the type of manager who can get results against good teams without having to resort to extremely defensive tactics. He is the man who can provide the same and Everton must make a move soon.
