The Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham are very keen on a move for Leicester City star James Maddison. The former Norwich City man arrived last summer and has been amongst the club’s best, helping the transition from Riyad Mahrez.
Alongside Rachid Ghezzal, Maddison arrived to help Leicester City move on from the Algerian. But while Ghezzal struggled, Maddison thrived by contributing to 14 goals. Not only that, his total includes 7 assists which is the joint highest at the club.
Combine that with his never-ending work ethic and his creative ability, it would be a brilliant move. However, losing him will break any hopes that Brendan Rodgers has of moving forward.
But that isn’t to say that the club cannot replace him, and that being said, here are three replacements for James Maddison.
Arguably one of Claude Puel’s best decisions before he left, the Belgian flourished in the Premier League. He finished his short loan spell with 13 appearances, 3 goals and 5 assists.
A versatile midfielder, the Belgian can play across the midfield line even as a number 10. While he does do well there, it’s as a central midfielder that he really flourishes.
It allows him to do literally everything for the side, including both the offensive and defensive parts of the game.
A number 10 by trade, the Hertha BSC star enjoyed his best goalscoring season this time around by finishing with 11 goals. He also added 7 assists in all competitions, playing a huge part in Hertha finishing 11th.
His prowess in front of goal has always been present, with Duda averaging atleast 5 goals over the course of his career. But it’s only this season that the 24-year-old has really taken to the German top-flight.
Furthermore, his creativity and work-ethic would be a boon for Leicester City as the Foxes look to replacing Maddison. However, given just how well the Slovakian has performed, they’ll have to act fast before someone else decides to make a move.

Linked with a move to Leicester City last summer before they opted for James Maddison, Jack Grealish is arguably the best man. A hard-working number 10, who is capable of playing on the wing as well, Grealish would do well under Brendan Rodgers.
He played a big part in Aston Villa making it back to the Premier League via the playoff final. Not only that, despite injuries affecting him, Grealish still managed to score and assist 14 goals in all competitions.
It’s a good return for any player but the question for Leicester City to answer is can he do that in the Premier League.
