The 2nd Colombian Linked With Manchester United This Week! £18m For The 22-year-old

Manchester United Target Serie A Forward Luis Muriel as Wayne Rooney replacement

Earlier this week, it was alleged that David Moyes is planning a bid for Jackson Martinez, the 26-year old Colombian International currently plying his trade for the Primeira Liga side F.C.Porto. And Metro, is reporting that United have switched to Udinese’s Luis Muriel as a potential replacement for Rooney.

Though Moyes seems to stand stubborn when it comes to Rooney’s departure, still anything can happen before the closure of the transfer window.

Martinez with 34 goals in 43 appearances for Porto last season is valued £33m while Muriel is available for £18m. Although, money is not a problem with United as Rooney’s imminent departure will bring almost the same amount as Martinez would cost. But the real problem lies with his demand in the market. Along with United, Napoli, Liverpool and Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in the Colombian which will make life difficult for Moyes.

In such scenario, a move for the Udinese man would make complete sense for the United boss. Metro quotes that, United manager David Moyes is a long-term admirer of Muriel, and he is ready to try and push through a transfer for the player if he fails to hang on to wantaway England international Rooney. Colombian international Muriel tops the Red Devils’ list of possible forward targets, with new chief scout Robbie Cooke pushing for the transfer to happen.

Muriel has made 22 appearances for the Serie A side last season and scored 11 times, with three assists to his name. It is said that, Muriel can be as effective as Rooney as the forward can play in various positions from wings to a centre forward, which gives a food for thought for Moyes.

In other news, one of United’s midfield main stray Michael Carrick has warned Swansea before their first game on this season EPL. Manchester United, who are the reigning champions of the coveted league, will start this season with an away game in Liberty Stadium.

While speaking to the website, Carrick assures the fans that it will be a mouth-watering dish for them.

Speaking to ManUtd.com , Carrick said:“Now is the time when you really start thinking about that first game of the season. We’ve been back from the main part of the tour for a few days now and everyone is focused on that first game.

“It’s about being ready for every game though and Tuesday’s will be a good opportunity for some of the lads that haven’t played too much recently and also for the lads that have played to get some more minutes in. It helps with your fitness, your general play and your overall sharpness.

“These games are always a test because you’re often up against teams who are pretty fit whereas we’re still building our fitness up and not quite where we want to be yet. That’s the purpose of being here and we want to make sure we perform and play well because we have great pride in ourselves and also want to represent the club in the right way. And we want to continue to make sure we are ready for that first game. We’ve got a busy week but it’s an important one for us.”
