Ten Amazing Pictures To Sum Up Arsenal’s Season So Far

Share

It has been an amazing run for Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger over the course of 20 years at charge of the Gunners and now, on what might as well be the farewell for the French boss, the North London team is trying to say goodbye to him in the best way they can, by winning a title after several years.

There have been a lot of ups and downs for the Gunners this season, but they will be looking to bounce back stronger in the second half of the league.

A great winning streak followed by a couple of subpar performances, it feels like this phrase pretty much sums what Arsenal has been over the course of the years, but this time; we’ll let the 10 pictures to do all the talking for us.

  1. Coutinho punishes Arsenal

The Gunners had a sad start to the new campaign, losing 3 to 4 against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium and showing what a defensive disaster they were, lowering expectations for what would their season be over the course of the months.

2. Ozil fires and guns

The German star got off to an amazing start of the season and made Arsenal finally earn their first win of the season after a loss and a tie against the defending champions. The Gunners defeated Watford 3 to 1 and hope began to rise.

3. Reinforcements arrive

The Gunners unveiled the signings of Deportivo la Coruna winger Lucas Perez and Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi, the young defender that would finally help the North London team to seal their lockdown defence.

4. Arsenal thrashes Chelsea at home

Wenger’s side defeated the soon to be leaders Chelsea at home 3 to nothing and just like this picture, there was no way to stop the Gunners during this matchup.

5. Last minute winners

An injury time goal from Laurent Koscielny earned the gunners a much-needed win at Burnley, showing the world that they were ready to do the required dirty work to win the title.

6. Walcott punishes the Swans

The English forward scored a deuce past Swansea City, making the Gunners jump to the top of the table alongside Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

7. Ozil at the pinnacle

The German proved to be playing one of the best seasons of his successful career while netting a hat trick against Ludogorets on the UEFA Champions League and expectations kept rising for the Gunners fanbase.

8. Giroud bails Wenger

The French striker managed to get a last minute goal against Manchester United and Wenger’s nemesis Jose Mourinho, keeping the defeat less streak alive for at least an extra week.

9. Empty handed at Goodison Park

A 2 to 1 defeat against Everton finally ended Arsenal’s great run and made them trail the leaders by a couple of points, making it very difficult to chase Chelsea.

10. Back to back losses

A 2 to 1 loss to Manchester City raised several concerns on their post Mustafi defence, with the German being injured and they managed a win in the next game.
