Team News: Latest On Walcott, Gibbs, Wilshere & Chamberlain

Share

Ahead of Arsenal’s crucial match against West Brom, Arsène Wenger sat down for his pre-match press conference  yesterday where he revealed the latest team news.

on changes to the team from Monday night…

At the moment no, the same group of players should be available for Sunday. It’s our last home game and you want everybody available and finish with a win.

on Kieran Gibbs…

Gibbs will be a bit short for Sunday. The good news is that he’s back in fitness training but he is not back in the full training group yet.

on Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wilshere…

They are not ready yet. Alex is in treatment at the moment and not in training. It’s very difficult to give you a time-scale on him at the moment.

This will be Arsenal’s last home match of the season and 3 points against West Brom will confirm their Champions League status for the 17th consecutive time despite the result of the final game against Norwich. The Gunners are four points clear of Everton currently and are in pole position to finish inside top 4 and stand an outside chance to finish at 3rd.

The likes of Ozil, Ramsey, Podolski, Rosicky are all fit to give Wenger a selection headache!

However, the only worrying news is that England International Theo Walcott, who after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee earlier this season has been on the sidelines and could even miss the start of the next season.

“I am not pushing myself to be fit for the World Cup or anything like that. I want to be back quickly, of course, but safely, too.

“I want to try and be back for the early part of next season, that is the goal, so there will be a lot of hard work throughout the summer and during the World Cup.”

“I will just get on with my work – I am first in and last out on most days.

“I see the consultant soon, too, and hopefully he will give me the thumbs up to push on. I would love to be running in a few weeks.”, said Walcott
