Back in June, the Daily Mirror (h/t Birmingham Mail) had claimed that Swansea City wanted to sign Keinan Davis on a season-long loan. However, a deal didn’t go through and the forward stayed put at the club.
Keinan Davis, 21, has found opportunities in the first-team tough to come by in the Premier League, following Aston Villa’s summer acquisition of Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge.
Wesley has been Villa’s first-choice striker this season, scoring four goals in 13 games. With the Brazilian leading the attack in the league, Davis and Jonathan Kodjia have been used as back-up strikers by Dean Smith.
So far, Davis has played just six Premier League games this season, coming on as a substitute in every fixture. With the 21-year-old lacking regular game time at Villa Park, Swansea City must reignite their interest in him during the winter transfer window.
Swansea’s form away from home has been quite remarkable this season but Cooper’s boys must improve their home record to maintain their promotion push this season.
Scoring goals has been a problem of late, with Swansea lacking a consistent goalscorer to lead the line. Borja Baston has faded after a brilliant start to the season and Andre Ayew isn’t an out-and-out No. 9.
Bournemouth loanee Sam Surridge has been frequently used from the bench and while he has impressed in recent performances, Cooper must prioritize signing a centre-forward in January.
In that regard, Keinan Davis would be a good fit at the Liberty Stadium. He is powerful and can lead the line well.
Since arriving at Villa Park three years ago, he has bulked up considerably which has helped improve his aggression and ability to compete with opposition players in the air.
A real handful for defenders, the 21-year-old has a powerful left foot. In the video below, one can see Davis’ style of play and the qualities he’ll bring to the table at Swansea if a deal goes through.
Davis has the attributes to make a definite impact at Swansea and thus, Cooper must bring the young striker on loan in January. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Villa will allow the 21-year-old to leave due to their lack of options upfront.
