Is This Surprise Midfield Bulldozer Set To Help Manchester City’s Title Challenge?

Share

Last weekend we witnessed the return of Yaya Toure  for Manchester City. It was the perfect comeback for him, as he saved his team and scored a brace, including the game-winning goal. After the good performance from Manchester City in front of Barcelona, they’re once again seen as favourites to reach good things this season, but the return of Yaya gave them something more.

Toure is one hell of a player, and he has been one of the best midfielders in the country over the past few years and it seems like he’s keen to go back to that outstanding level he’s shown in the past at the Etihad Stadium.

Kolo’s brother has been one of the most important players for his teams since his arrival from Barcelona, sharing the team’s leadership with Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero, but always staying as someone to hear when he talks, not only with his performances defending his team but attacking the rivals, as Yaya has improved his ability in both areas, and that’s something we could confirm (if it was necessary) in the past Premier League fixture.

With Yaya’s comeback, everybody is wondering if Manchester City is again the favourite team to win Premier League this year. It is not an easy task, as they’re not the only loaded team looking to do so. Of course, having the outstanding Ivory Coast international gives them a bonus, but winning the title is something very hard to do, even if they count with the African player on their ranks. So, today we will try to figure out how City is positioned in the current title run.

With this great season from Liverpool, Chelsea and even Arsenal, this seems like the most difficult Premier League season in the last 15 years. Although, we expected something more from Manchester United, other teams like Tottenham have stated that they are here to fight for the crown as well.

Purchasing one of the best head coaches in the world was a huge step for Manchester City; after winning the league under Manuel Pellegrini’s led, they felt they needed to win big things this time and Pep Guardiola arrived at Etihad Stadium to reach them. However Manchester City’s biggest goal is winning the UEFA Champions League, but seeing the competition this year, they know winning this Premier League is an obligation for them.

The return of Yaya Toure means nothing this season for the “Citizens” title hopes right now. Yes, Toure is a great player, he still has things to provide, but his prime is over, and it won’t take long for Guardiola to send him back to the bench.

Talent doesn’t have any age, but Yaya has slowly decreased his speed and his play overall. He could totally help his side off the bench, especially on those crowded match weeks where the citizens have to play twice, but Manchester City’s actually pretty loaded on that position, and he’s comeback to the first team was more of a gesture from Pep than an actual sign that he’ll be coming back to the Starting unit for the long run.
