Liverpool Player Ratings vs Tottenham Hotspur: Here’s how the Reds fared

Liverpool continued their 100% start to the season by claiming their fifth consecutive league win of the season, against Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds led 2-0 throughout the game until Lamela pulled one back in stoppage time to hand Jurgen Klopp’s men a nervy end to the game.

Spurs looked like they are yet to recover from the Watford hangover and played some lacklustre football for much of the game. Liverpool scored the opener via Georginio Wijnaldum.

Firmino scrambled in another goal as Liverpool’s left axis once again showed its strength. Liverpool’s defence also kept the likes of Harry Kane and Lucas Moura quiet for the majority of the game.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Alisson Becker (6/10)

Alisson was not given much to do in the game and was unable to save a brilliant effort from Lamela. The Brazilian was simple and crisp with his distribution though.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (7/10)

Arnold was defensively solid but failed to whip in the crosses going forward.

Virgil Van Dijk (8/10)

Another commanding performance from Liverpool’s Dutchman, who continues to rise under Jurgen Klopp.

Joe Gomez (8/10)

The youngster continues to impress too and once again put in an excellent shift against Spurs today.

Andrew Robertson (7/10)

Robertson made a couple of important tackles and interceptions. However, he was unable to influence the game going forward.

James Milner (7/10)

Once again, an all-round performance from Liverpool’s tireless worker. Milner was successful in tracking back as well.

Naby Keita (6/10)

Keita was good with his distribution and defending but the Guinean gave the ball away in dangerous areas.

Gini Wijnaldum (9/10)

Wijnaldum twisted and turned as he rarely conceded possession. The midfielder picked up his first away goal ever in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah (5/10)

It was another mediocre performance from Liverpool’s Egyptian, who scuppered a glorious chance in the first half. However, he created a couple of opportunities.

Roberto Firmino (8/10)

Firmino seems to be picking up form now, after scoring 3 goals in the last 3 games for both club and country.

Roberto Firmino

Sadio Mane (7/10)

Mane was kept quiet by the Tottenham defenders but came close to scoring on one or two occasions.

Substitutes

Jordan Henderson (6/10)

Henderson came on in place of Firmino and was good with his distribution in the middle of the park.

Daniel Sturridge (5/10)

Sturridge didn’t really have enough time to influence the game but created one chance.

Joel Matip (N/A)

Matip was brought on in the dying stages of the game and was unable to exert his influence.
