Leicester City Player Ratings vs Wolves: Here’s how the Foxes fared

It took an enthralling penalty shootout to decide the winner between Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Foxes ultimately emerging victorious.

Claude Puel’s men won 3-1 on penalties, with Danny Ward coming out on top. Both clubs were unable to break the deadlock in normal time as they created a number of opportunities going forward.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo will definitely rue their missed chances as the newcomers endured a deja vu moment, being eliminated through penalties last season as well. For Claude Puel’s men, they will be happy to have held their nerve and made their way into the next round.

Leicester City Player Ratings

Danny Ward (8/10)

Made a couple of decent saves but was not really tested from open play. He was brilliant during the shootout.

Ricardo Pereira

Ricardo Pereira (7/10)

Pereira looked good going forward but is yet to prove himself defensively. He seemed to be caught up front at times.

Wes Morgan (8/10)

A calm and composed display from the captain who didn’t put a foot wrong all night.

Jonny Evans (7/10)

Evans looked good alongside Wes Morgan and defended with full commitment. He also took a yellow card to stop a dangerous Wolves breakaway.

Christian Fuchs (7/10)

Fuchs was impressive on the ball and his raids down the flank provided the Foxes with width and energy.

Christian Fuchs (right)

Vicente Iborra (7/10)

Anchored the midfield and was very influential in the first half. His spot-kick was calm.

Adrien Silva (6/10)

Silva worked hard but didn’t look comfortable with the ball in possession, often giving it away cheaply.

Rachid Ghezzal (7/10)

The new Algerian signing whipped in a couple of excellent crosses and corners into the box. He was also more than willing to track back and defend.

Shinji Okazaki (5/10)

The Japanese striker worked tirelessly as always but was barely a threat going forward.

Shinji Okazaki

Marc Albrighton (6/10)

Albrighton was industrious all night and was only denied by a fine John Ruddy save. His supply was excellent as well.

Jamie Vardy (7/10)

Vardy had a couple of glimpses at goal and stretched the defenders out of their position. But he was unable to get on the scoresheet.

Substitutes

Demarai Gray (6/10)

His pace and energy caused all sorts of problems in the final third but he was unable to influence the attack.

Kelechi Iheanacho (7/10)

Scored the winning penalty and held his nerve. Iheanacho looked energetic after coming on but wasn’t clinical in front of the goal.
