Wolves Player Ratings vs Burnley – Here’s how Nuno’s men fared

Newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers continued their impressive start to life in the Premier League by beating Burnley 1-0 at the Molineux. A goal from Raul Jimenez around the half-hour mark sealed three points for Wolves, who had numerous other opportunities to kill the contest.

A thoroughly disappointing performance as far as Burnley are concerned, who would count themselves lucky only to lose this game by just a 1-0 margin. However, for Nuno Espirito Santo and his men, it was a fantastic outing, which could have been better had they taken their chances well.

Wolves Player Ratings

Rui Patricio (6)

Never had a crucial save to make, which shows how one-sided this game was. He was solid in whatever he was asked to do.

Ryan Bennett

Ryan Bennett (7)

Good on the ball and solid when Burnley played high balls into the box. A composed performance.

Conor Coady (7)

The captain led from the front with some exquisite passing. Dominated the Burnley strikers.

Willy Boly (7)

Just like his defensive partners, he was good on the ball and defensively solid.

Matt Doherty (7.5)

A tireless display from the wing-back, who marauded forward at every given opportunity and stuck to his task defensively. Assisted the goal.

Joao Moutinho (7)

The governor general of the team who really looks at home playing alongside Ruben Neves. Wolves have a terrific midfield partnership building up.

Ruben Neves

Ruben Neves (7.5)

He wasn’t the star man in terms of scoring or creating chances, however, his passing and presence of mind in the midfield was just phenomenal. Hard to believe he is only 21.

Jonny (7)

A hard-working performance from the left wing-back, who supported the attack at every given opportunity and tracked back well.

Diogo Jota (7.5)

Was a constant nuisance to the Burnley defenders as he pressed and made clever movements.

Raul Jimenez

Raul Jimenez (7.5)

Scored the match-winning goal and looked a threat playing around the shoulder of the last defender.

Helder Costa (7)

Costa was very good with his movement up front in wide areas. The good thing is that he can mix it up by playing good football when required and link up in the wide areas.

Substitutes

Adama Traore (Subbed on after 66 mins) (7)

This guy has serious pace to trouble any defence in world football. He showed that by coming on and exploiting the space in behind a tired Burnley defence. A potential game-changer from the bench whenever Nuno needs him.

Leo Bonatini (Subbed on after 76 mins) (5)

Could have had a hat-trick in 15 mins, such was the number of chances Wolves created.

Morgan Gibbs-White (Subbed on after 88 mins) (N/A)

Had no time to make an impact.
