Arsenal Player Ratings vs Sporting CP: Here’s how the Gunners fared

Arsenal were made to grind out a 1-0 win against a rigid Sporting CP side. Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game which ultimately handed Unai Emery’s men all three points.

The Gunners have now picked up their 11th consecutive win under the new manager and look formidable this season.

It was a hard game but Arsenal did well to push hard and grab a win.

Arsenal Player Ratings

Bernd Leno (6/10)

The German barely had much to do but he was neat and tidy with the ball at his feet.

Bernd Leno

Stephan Lichsteiner (5/10)

Struggled defensively in the first half. He had a bad day.

Rob Holding (7/10)

Holding defended well but had his bad moments as well. He made several important interventions and headed clearances.

Sokratis (6/10)

He was solid for the most part but looked shaky in one-on-one situations today.

Granit Xhaka (7/10)

An impressive performance from the Swiss international. He stood in well at left-back, a position he is not used to.

Granit Xhaka

Mohamed Elneny (5/10)

Barely made an impact in this game. He offered very less in terms of creativity but he was good in possession.

Matteo Guendouzi (7/10)

Arguably the best player on the night. He was good in the midfield and pressed seamlessly to win the ball back. He was also good with his distribution.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (4/10)

The Armenian had another poor game and failed to threaten going forward. He was almost anonymous in the first half.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Danny Welbeck (7/10)

Scored a good goal and that’s what ultimately mattered in the end. Apart from that, it was not the best performance from the former Manchester United man.

Aaron Ramsey (6.5/10)

His creativity was very good on the night but his influence slowly faded away. He looked much better after Torreira was introduced.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (6/10)

His pace and movement caused all sorts of problems at the back for Sporting, but the service to him was very limited.

Substitutes

Lucas Torreira (6/10)

Came on and once again fulfilled his duties without making it look fancy. Neat and tidy football.

Lucas Torreira

Alexandre Lacazette (5/10)

Linked up well on one or two occasions but didn’t have much to do.
