Celtic Player Ratings vs St. Johnstone – Here’s how the Hoops fared

Celtic won their first away game of the Scottish Premiership season as they smashed St. Johnstone 6-0 at the McDiarmid Park. James Forrest scored four goals, with support from Callum McGregor and Edouard, who were the other scorers in the game.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were very good on the day and were just too good for their opponents. It was the Hoops’ second win at McDiarmid Park in the space of 11 days. This time though, the performance was more emphatic.

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon (6)

Didn’t have too much to do throughout, especially after the home team went down to 10 men.

Mikael Lustig (7)

A good performance from Lustig, who was a good attacking outlet on the day.

Dedryck Boyata

Dedryck Boyata (7)

A commanding performance from the Belgian. He is slowly getting back to his best.

Filip Benkovic (7)

Looked good alongside Boyata until he was replaced at around the hour mark, probably due to an injury.

Kieran Tierney (7)

The youngster did well just like his full-back partner on the other side of the pitch.

Olivier Ntcham (7)

A good performance from Ntcham, who kept the Celtic midfield ticking throughout the game. Against 10 men, it became easier.

Tomas Rogic (7.5)

Was involved in two of Forrest’s goals and looked very good on the creative side of things.

James Forrest

James Forrest (9)

When you score four goals in a game, you are bound to be the best player on the pitch. Forrest scored a variety of goals and ripped St. Johnstone’s defence apart.

Odsonne Edouard (7)

The Frenchman scored a wonderful goal in the first half. Had another chance, which was well saved by the goalkeeper, with the rebound being slotted in by Forrest.

Callum McGregor (7)

Was involved in many attacking moves by the team. Scored a goal to cap off a good performance.

Leigh Griffiths (6)

Led the line well and was involved in the team’s moves in the final third. Had a chance to score, only for the Johnstone goalkeeper to save.

Callum McGregor

Substitutes

Jozo Simunovic (On after 61 mins) (6)

Shored up the back-line which wasn’t under immense pressure all game.

Lewis Morgan (On after 69 mins) (6)

Came on to keep the midfield ticking.
