Sunderland vs Arsenal – Player Ratings + Highlights

Share

Arsenal showed a mixture of possession football and counter attacking football to beat Sunderland in the stadium of light. Here are the ratings for the Arsenal players and also the match highlights.

Player Ratings:

Wojciech Szczesny – 8/10 – He was in a beast mode during the whole game. Made some stunning saves in the second half. None shall pass him.

Carl Jenkinson – 4/10 – Probably the flop of the game. Red carded for two rash tackles. Still he needs some maturity to play at this level.

Bacary Sagna – 9/10 – Man of the match performance from the French defender. That too played as a center back. He made most number of clearances during the game and looked solid throughout the game.

Per Mertesacker – 7/10 – A decent game from the big German. Deserves some credit for keeping a clean sheet.

Nacho Monreal – 7/10 – Started slowly but settled well in the second half. Not a bad start to his Arsenal Career.

Mikel Arteta – 8/10 – A typical pass master type display.  He distributed passes up and down the pitch with pass accuracy more than 95%. He yet again proved his importance to this Arsenal side.

Aaron Ramsey – 7/10 – Was denied by Mignolet late in the first-half, and at times was sloppy in possession. Ramsey was good when he was shifted to right back position after the dismissal of Jenkinson.

Jack Wilshere – 7/10 – He was the one who enforced Arsenal’s first goal with his trade mark run. He was substituted because of an injury. He may miss the crucial Champions league game against Bayern Munich.

Theo Walcott – 6.5/10 – Added one more assist to his tally when he teed up Cazorla for the winner. Some times he was clunky in possession and he also missed some good chances too.

Olivier Giroud – 6/10 – Good work rate, improved his ball control and play making. But he is the center forward of this side and he needs to make much more forward runs to score more goals.

Santi Cazorla – 7.5/10 – When Cazorla plays well, whole Arsenal play well. Good display from the Spaniard. Scored the only goal of the game with a neatly taken left foot shot.

SUBS

Abou Diaby – 6/10 – He looked out of pace but still did his part in helping his defense to hold on to the lead.

Ignasi Miquel – n/a – A late introduction to try and preserve the lead. Didn’t let his team down.

A great match overall! Last few mins were breath taking! Check out the highlights of the game,
