Strongest Manchester United Line-up To Play Against Tottenham – Rafael, Mata And Falcao Set To Start

Share

Manchester United take on Tottenham on Sunday and it is a game that United have always done well in, Tottenham seem to be the whipping boys for United and Louis Van Gaal will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the league with a positive result against Spurs.

The Christmas period is a crazy time with fixtures being played almost every other day and here is the predicted line up for Manchester United when they face Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

David de Gea

There really can’t be a reason to drop De Gea, he has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and is probably the best United player currently. David De Gea has not match for him in the Premier League and is a sure starter against Tottenham.

Chris Smalling

Chris Smalling returned to the first team from injury last week and should replace McNair in the three man central defence.

Jonny Evans

The Northern Irishman should continue playing in the heart of the defence, Van Gaal would like to rest a few players but he wouldn’t be taking a risk with all 3 defenders being replaced and Evans should continue in defence.

Phil Jones

Phil Jones looked alright at the back against Newcastle, he did have a couple of mistakes here and there but he was good enough and should continue in the team, especially with Rojo still not being match fit to come back into the squad.

Rafael da Silva

Another signing that is making his way back into the team; Rafael did come on as a substitute against Newcastle in the last 10 minutes and could get a run out as Van Gaal decides to rest a few players.

Ashley Young

Ashley Young seems to have been reinvigorated as a wing back for Louis Van Gaal, sure he has to do some defensive work but if that means he gets regular football, no one is going to complain. The English winger should continue in the team and will have a big part to play in the game.

Michael Carrick

The midfielder started against Newcastle and was one of the best players for United, he was substituted for another returning player in the second half but Carrick’s distribution is a key feature for the team and for that reason he should stay in the team.

Wayne Rooney

The man in form, Wayne Rooney is revelling in the deeper role that Van Gaal has assigned him this season. He scored a couple of goals and assisted the third against Newcastle and there really is no reason as to why he could be dropped.

Juan Mata

The Spaniard isn’t having the best of times in terms of form, he hasn’t scored or assisted as much as he would like but with Di Maria being injured, it could be the last chance for Juan Mata to ensure he becomes a United starting XI player for good.

Robin Van Persie

The Dutchman scored a fine goal against Newcastle; his header was a typical Van Persie finish. He should start with Falcao as the trio of Rooney, Falcao and Van Persie seem to be clicking now.

Radamel Falcao

Falcao didn’t score against Newcastle but he did help set up one of Rooney’s goals and if he keeps linking up with the other attackers, he could stay at United next season as well. If he starts scoring goals then he is a sure stay at the club.
