Strongest Arsenal Lineup To Play Against Hull City – Ramsey, Ozil To Start & Wilshere To Be Benched

Share

Arsenal have been presented with a perfect opportunity to win their first silverware since the 2005 FA cup final when they defeated Manchester United on penalties. The Gunners face Hull City at Wembley this Saturday with almost a fully fit squad. Having secured Champions League qualification, lifting the FA Cup could be the icing on the cake for Wenger’s men before travelling to Brazil for the World Cup.

Arsenal have surpassed the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and a nerve wrecking semi-final against Wigan to reach the finals which they simply cannot afford to lose and a win against Hull City could see them tie with Manchester United for the most Cup wins with 11. Further this will be Arsenal’s 5th FA Cup under Arsene Wenger.

With the likes of Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long cup tied for Hull City, their attacking prowess certainly look bleak which should have the Arsenal defenders’ work cut out.

So, here is the Strongest Arsenal lineup that Wenger should deploy this Saturday.

Goalkeeping:

The position between the sticks for Arsenal really looks like a myth. Łukasz Fabiański has started all of Arsenal’s cup games this season and it was hoped that he would continue in goal despite Szczesny’s presence. However, Wenger rested Szczesny last weekend against Norwich indicating that he might start with his first choice keeper for the final. So it is to be seen what his decision will be.

Defenders:

As far as the defenders are concerned, it should be a direct choice for Wenger. All of his first choice center backs and fullbacks are fit and ready. While Koscielny and Mertesacker will take center stage, Sagna might play his last match as a Gunner with rumours linking him with Manchester City. At left back it should be English star, Kieran Gibbs. Captain Thomas Vermaelen who has returned from a problem with his knee is still a doubt for this one.

Midfielders:

The Arsenal midfield steam rolled past Hull City at the KC Stadium last month in a 3-0 win in the league and should be confident of recreating that performance at Wembley. Wenger, surprisingly has a whole lot of players to select from except for Oxlade-Chamberlain, the entire midfield is available.

However, going by logics, it should be Arteta to team up with Ramsey in the middle while Mesut Ozil should take his customary No.10 role behind Giroud. On the wings, Cazorla, Podolski, Rosicky and even Wilshere will fight for a starting berth and it should be interesting to see Wenger’s choice. The most likely candidates to start will be Podolski on the left, and Cazorla on the right with the latter interchanging positions with Mesut Ozil often.

Although Wilshere returned to the bench and played a good part of 30 minutes in the second half against Norwich, he should again be starting from the bench. The likes Of Flamini, Rosicky, Diaby will be on the bench as well.

Forward:

Olivier Giroud is the clear favourite here.
