Strongest Arsenal Lineup To Face Hull City – Chambers Should Start In Defence

Share

Arsenal slumped to a 2-0 defeat away to Southampton as Arsenal’s lack of options came back to hunt the North London side. With Olivier Giroud suspended and Danny Welbeck injured it was Alexis Sanchez who played in a central role and it is fair to say that he was not really at his most effective. With Arsenal facing another mammoth task in Hull City on Sunday in the F.A. Cup, Arsene Wenger will know that he cannot afford to let this defeat effect his side. The match is a rematch of last season’s F.A. Cup final which means plenty of very good memories and Arsenal will be hoping that the result is just the same as last season’s final. Here at Soccersouls we give you the predicted Arsenal lineup Vs Hull City.

Calum Chambers – Arsenal

Goalkeeper: David Ospina

With David Ospina fit and ready to go there is no doubt that he will replace Wojciech Szczesny in the starting lineup as Arsene Wenger always likes to field his number two goalkeeper in the cup games. Also this will be a huge indicator of how match fit David Ospina really is.

Defence: Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal, Kieran Gibbs

With Mathieu Debuchy playing all three games in the buys festive period and that too after coming back from an injury lay off, it does not take rocket science to deduct that he might be rested for this one. Also Laurent Koscielny might be another one given a rest which means that Nacho Monreal will partner Per Mertesacker in defence. Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs will play as the two side backs.

Midfield: Mathieu Flamini, Francis Coquelin, Tomas Rosicky

While resting Santi Cazorla might be a tough decision to take but given how many games the Spaniard has played, Arsene Wenger might not be left with a choice. In that case Tomas Rosicky will take the responsibility of being the most advanced player in midfielder. Mathieu Flamini will be the deepest lying midfielder to protect the makeshift back four while Francis Coquelin will get another start for Arsenal after being recalled from Charlton Athletic.

Forward: Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Joel Campbell, Theo Walcott

Theo Walcott is finally fit as he came off from the substitute bench in the game against the Saints and we feel that he would be handed a start for the first time since he got injured in this game against Hull City. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will continue on the left but the big news will probably be that Alexis Sanchez being rested. Joel Campbell will be the one playing in a central role.
