Strongest Arsenal Lineup To Face Leicester City: Coquelin To Start

Share

Predicted Arsenal Lineup vs Leicester

Arsenal welcome League leaders Leicester City to the Emirates stadium on Sunday afternoon. Wenger will be looking for a victory which would close the gap at the top to two points. Arsène Wenger will be looking to bring in some consistency after the 2-0 win over Bournemouth at Vitality stadium. The visitors will be full of confidence coming into this match after their thumping 3-1 victory over Manchester City. The last time these two teams met, Arsenal emphatically won the match 5-2 but much has changed since then.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech

One of the best goalkeepers in the world, Cech is a sure shot starter after an impressive first season at the Emirates. If Arsenal do go on to win the League, a huge credit must go to the former Chelsea player, who has on more than one occasion saved his side. Definitely a Contender for the signing of the season.

Defenders: Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, L Koscielny and Paulista

Monreal has been superb this season, producing consistently since day one. He will need all his experience to keep the likes of Vardy and Mahrez quiet. Bellerin will man the right side, his pace will be crucial in stopping Leicester from countering quickly. He has suffered a slight dip in his form since the turn of the year but expect him to be fully ready for this big encounter. We the pace Leicester have got, I recommend Wenger will want to start with Paulista and Koscielny in the centre, which means Mertesacker will have to be content with a place on the bench. Both Paulista and Koscielny will have their hands full when they come against this season’s top scorer Jamie Vardy.

Midfielders: Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Walcott

Francis Coquelin

Coquelin

Wenger might make one or two changes to the team that faced Bournemouth on Sunday. One expects Coquelin to start his first match since he recovered from his injury in place of Flamini, who was quite disastrous at the weekend. With Cazorla still injured, Ramsey will in all likelihood partner Coquelin in the centre. Upfront Ozil will start in the number 10 role just behind the striker. The result for this match could depend on how well Ozil plays and how much space he gets in the centre. Alexis Sanchez has shown no signs of rustiness following his return from injury so the Chilean international should continue on the left flank. Wenger will be hoping that Sanchez breaks his League goal drought just like he did earlier in the season against Leicester. On the right, Wenger might go with Walcott, given how his pace troubled the Leicester back four last time around.

Striker: O. Giroud

Giroud is struggling at the moment in front of goal but since Welbeck is injured, Wenger doesn’t have the option of changing things around too much. His link-up play with other runners will have a huge impact on the result.
