Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-Up To Face Tottenham Hotspur Amid Injury Woes For Craig Shakespeare

Predicted Leicester City Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City will take on Tottenham Hotspur in their penultimate Premier League game on Thursday night at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes are seated 11th in the league table and stand a good chance to finish in the top half of the standings, provided they manage to get positive results in their final two outings. They come into the game having been defeated 2-1 by Manchester City on Saturday but will want to avoid a similar outcome on Thursday.

Team News

Manager Craig Shakespeare will be without first-choice centre-half duo Wes Morgan and Robert Huth while midfielder Andy King is also unlikely to feature after being taken off injured during the weekend fixture. Danny Drinkwater, Nampalys Mendy, and Molla Wague have been ruled out for the season and are unavailable.

Here is how Leicester will take the field against Mauricio Pochettino’s side:

Probable Leicester City Starting XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

In the absence of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth, the Danish international will lead the team against Tottenham. A sure starter.

Danny Simpson (RB)

The 30-year old has been a permanent fixture in the Leicester side this season. Expect it to stay the same on Thursday as well.

Yohan Benalouane (CB)

The Tunisian has deputised well in the absence of Wes Morgan. Will need to step up as the leader of the defence with both Morgan and Huth unavailable.

Christian Fuchs (CB)

The Austrian international will have to slot in at centre-half once again after doing so against City. Will face a huge test against the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Ben Chilwell (LB)

With Fuchs moving in at centre-back, young Ben Chilwell will get another start at the left-back position.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

The 26-year old Algerian’s future continues to be under a cloud of doubt. But he will start the game on the right flank and will look to impress against Tottenham.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

With Danny Drinkwater unavailable, the onus will be on the 20-year old Wilfred Ndidi to keep the Foxes ticking in the middle of the park.

Daniel Amartey (CM)

No Drinkwater, no Andy King means Shakespeare will have to call upon Daniel Amartey to partner Ndidi in central midfield.

Marc Albrighton (LM)

Took a nasty knock under the eye against City at the weekend, but will keep his place in the starting line-up on the left-hand side.

Shinji Okazaki (CF)

Scored the only goal for Leicester against the Citizens. Should start in the attack against the North London outfit.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

The Englishman has been in decent form in recent weeks. He has the pace and the power to cause some trouble to the Tottenham backline.
