Stats Show Why Manchester United Should Sign This Leicester City Hitman Rather Than Ronaldo

Share
Jamie Vardy equalled Manchester United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 consecutive games, and should be wary of him breaking the former United striker’s record at Old Trafford this weekend.
Perhaps United should be taking a look at Vardy rather than thinking about brining Ronaldo back to Manchester, and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us why!

Jamie Vardy is currently the highest ranked Premier League player according to the EA SPORTS Player Performacne Index, ahead of teammate Riyad Mahrez and three highly regarded youngsters Lukaku, Kane and Barkley who occupy second to fifth spot, respectively.

We all know that Vadry is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with 13 goals, but that stems from him having hit the target more than any other player in the Premier League. Vardy has hit the target 25 times this season, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane the only other player to have had over 20 shots on target. Vardy’s accuracy has seen him hit the target with 62.5% of his attempts on goals this season, and converted 32.5% of his overall efforts into goals.
Another good indicator of just how good his season has been is looking at how long it takes him to score each goal on average, and he is second only to Aguero in this regard. Vardy is netting a goal every 88.3 minutes, at better than a goal a game. Whilst Aguero may be under a minute better off on average, Vardy has netted six more times than the Argentine so far this season.
*Players must have scored at least two goals this season
Becoming the league’s top scorer doesn’t just happen over night and it is hard work that makes everything tick for Vardy. Looking at every forward in the Premier League, only Tottenham’s Harry Kane has covered more distance than Vardy’s 124.47km so far this season. Hard work is key to anyone attaining success in any profession, and Jamie Vardy’s rise to Premier League top scorer from non-league football is made possible by this work-rate.
Alongside the hard work that he puts in, Vardy is also blessed with the gift of pace; the hardest individual asset to defend against. According to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, Vardy is the fastest player in the Premier League, having been clocked at 35.44km/h. It is that deadly pace in combination with his hard work that makes him a non-stop threat to every defence that he comes up against.
