Star Returns – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Wolves Line-Up To Face Huddersfield

Predicted Wolverhampton Lineup To Face Huddersfield

Wolves were no match for newly promoted Brighton in an unremarkable game over Easter. However, they will fancy their chances against another promotion chasing side here in Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers crashed and burned at home to Fulham at the weekend and were soundly beaten 4-1. With no chance of automatic promotion, they head to Molineux knowing that a defeat would put them in danger of missing out on a play-off place altogether, though a win would take them back to third.

Wolves have little left to play for. They are safe from relegation and ensconced in mid-table but naturally, they will want to end the season on a high. Paul Lambert promised some changes in the wake of his side’s awful 0-0 draw with Blackburn and the likelihood is that he will stick with his 4-2-3-1 formation.

Probable Wolverhampton XI:

Manager: Paul Lambert

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Andy Lonergan

5 clean sheets for the 33-year-old stopper from Preston this season, one more could set up a morale-boosting win.

RB – Conor Coady

The one-time central midfielder provides a good attacking impetus for Wolves from the right-back position. He should start.

CB – Danny Batth

Missed games recently but is back fit again now. With Paul Lambert promising changes for this game, he will no doubt step in for Mike Williamson.

CB – Richard Steerman

Played at the weekend and can retain his place in a reshuffled back line. Should start alongside Batth.

LB – Kortney Hause

There is a lack of left-backs at Wolves, so with Matt Doherty now injured Hause may be recalled and move across to the left.

CM – Lee Evans

To freshen things up; Lambert may recall Evans to partner Edwards in place of Saiss.

CM – David Edwards

10 league goals already from midfield for Edwards and he remains important to the cause. Will start the game for sure.

RW – Ivan Cavaleiro

Assuming Helder Costa doesn’t make it again, his countryman may step in. Ben Marshall was withdrawn during a drab match at the weekend and could be the one to make way.

CAM – Andreas Weimann

An unremarkable season for the Austrian, but the 25-year-old retains the ability and will plug away in the last three games behind the striker.

LW – George Saville

Not a prolific scorer, but Saville will be expected to provide opportunities for the No.9. Should start on the left.

ST – Nouha Dicko

He seems like the right man in this position. Dicko has played the last 5 games up front now and has been responsible for the crucial goals in Wolves’ two wins during that period. It would not be a surprise to see him score on the break again with Huddersfield taking the game to the hosts.
