Spurs v Everton – Predicted Line Up

After a hard fought victory against Watford which sent Spurs 3rd on the table to end the season, they will face Roberto Martinez’s Everton side who are on a bouyant goal scoring form thanks to their Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku who himself is chasing Leicester’s Jamie Vardy’s record of scoring in 11 consecutive PL games.

Tottenham’s primary target of the game would be to stop the Belgian and the player who will be key to that is club captain and goalie, Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman would love a clean sheet and they have been quite hard to come by this season though Spurs have a good defensive record.

England RB, Kyle Walker was rested for the Watford game and Kieren Tripper did show his mettle, but Walker should slot right back into the team (pun intended). The Belgian duo of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld will also have to be on their toes to stop the brute force that is Lukaku. Thiery Henry recently praised Alderweireld as the best Spurs CB since Ledley King, quite a big compliment for any Spurs defender that. Ben Davies was also left out for the Watford game and Danny Rose got his game time, but the Welshman is more likely to start against Everton as Pochetino prefers Davies nowadays though it seemed otherwise so far in his Spurs tenure.

Eric Dier will miss his usual midfield partner in Moussa Dembele as the Belgian has reportedly picked up a knock and is out for up to 2 weeks. Ryan Mason is the probable candidate to accompany Dier along with Delle Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son as the front 3. Erik Lamela having played 2 games in the space of 4 days will probably be given a rest.

The main target man will continue to be Harry Kane. He missed out on getting to 50 goals for the club before the year ended, but will look to get there as soon as possible. Also, he would hope to start 2016 in similar fashion as that of 2015, Jose Mourinho and Terry would probably not want to be reminded of that night at White Hart Lane.
