Tottenham Hotspur opinion: Spurs should sign Dybala in January

Tottenham Hotspur have had an interesting summer window with some marquee signings in Giovanni Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele made his debut this week against Aston Villa in the Premier League and was having a very tough afternoon before Christian Eriksen came in to swing the tide and Ndombele scored a fantastic goal from outside the box to help Spurs make a comeback.

If this is a sign of things to come under Pochettino with his new signings, then Daniel Levy will have to get the chequebook out once again to help Spurs make a real challenge for the Premier League title and Champions League title.

One player who was linked with a move in the summer was Paulo Dybala and he has been linked with a January move.

Dybala seems to not be in Juventus’ plans as current manager Maurizio Sarri has suggested that they’ll have to offload a few key players to balance the books as they’ve made some massive outlays in the last couple of seasons in Cristiano Ronaldo, Matthijs de Ligt, Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsay.

Another thing for Spurs to consider is that Christian Eriksen is in the final year of his contract and has been linked with a move away from the club.

Spurs will lack a real creative outlet if he leaves the club because they’ve already lost Kieran Trippier, who despite his lack of defensive awareness was very important in terms of his creativity on the pitch.

Losing both would make it very hard for Spurs to even confirm a spot in the top-4 as performances like the first half against Villa will become a more common occurrence. Dybala would bring some guile and intelligence to their forward line as he’s a very crafty footballer, who can create a lot of chances and also chip in with a lot of goals.

Pochettino already has a strong Argentinian contingent in his current squad and Dybala will have no problem settling into the Spurs squad along with the likes of Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth, Paolo Gazzaniga and Giovanni Lo Celso.

Conclusion

Spurs will be facing Manchester City in next week’s Premier League fixture at the Etihad and will be hoping they can leave the Etihad smiling once again after knocking them out in the Champions League quarter-finals last season.

The result of this game could have a massive effect on the rest of the season.
