Reputed Spanish Journalist has given an update on Arsenal’s long term target Sami Khedira’s future. The Journalist confirms that Real Madrid has no intentions to sell the German midfielder despite his extended time on the injury table. The Spanish giants are reportedly preparing a contract extension for Khedira, denting Arsenal’s hope to land the midfielder during the January window.
“We still have until June to renew his contract. I think the club intends to renew the deal and if he does not want to then he will remain here until to the end of season.” said Ancelotti.
According to Dailymail, despite Khedira’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Carlo Ancelotti is desperate to keep him at the Bernabeu – although the Champions League holders are reportedly willing to listen to offers of £10million.
‘The story from the club is that they’re offering him a new contract,’ Balague told Sky Sports News HQ.
‘He still hasn’t said yes to that which would obviously mean he’d go for free at the end of the season.
‘Ancelotti wants him to stay until the end of the season and the plan of the club remains to keep him until then, even with the possibility of him leaving for free.
‘They will try to convince him to stay, but it looks very unlikely.’
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with the midfielder, with Chelsea even offering a pre-contract to lure him to the Stamford Bridge. Khedira has been termed as a long term solution for Arsenal’s search for a perfect defensive midfielder and if the German decides to lower his wage demands, a move might be imminent either in January or in the Summer window, but it’s unlikely that the Gunners will be able to sign him without competition.
Looks like the transfer battle will continue for the time being . What do you guys thing will happen?
