Solid Peacock-Farrell, Poor Alioski – The best and the worst rated Leeds stars vs Middlesbrough

Leeds United player ratings vs Middlesbrough – Here’s how Bielsa’s men fared

Leeds United continued their unbeaten run in the Championship by playing out a 0-0 draw against a physically dangerous Middlesbrough side. Marcelo Bielsa’s men should be relieved with this point as Boro really caused them huge problems, especially from set-piece situations.

Both teams created a fair number of chances to break the deadlock, however, defensive lines were adamant to not let any of them in. Jonny Howson’s curling shot in the first-half was destined to go in, only for Bailey Peacock-Farrell to pull off a fantastic save.

Later, Luke Ayling’s header was cleared off the line by Adam Clayton to ensure a point.

Leeds player ratings

Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (8)

He knew Boro would throw in set-pieces, from which he had to command the box, and he did that pretty well at times. Made a crucial save from Howson in the first half as well.

Luke Ayling (6)

Misplaced a few passes and missed a glorious chance at the stroke of half-time when his header was cleared off the line. Was quiet in the second half, but was defensively fine.

Gaetano Berardi (7)

Was defensively solid against a solid Boro attack. Had to go off injured later in the game.

Liam Cooper (6.5)

Returned to the starting line-up after an injury. Was iffy at times but made sure the opposition attackers never had an easy go at goal.

Barry Douglas (6)

Douglas was defensively sound but couldn’t make inroads upwards. A steady performance.

Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips (7.5)

Played a vital role in front of the backline, passing it accurately and making some good tackles.

Mateusz Klich (6)

He was involved in a graft of a battle in the midfield. Won a few battles but couldn’t get forward with the ball.

Samuel Saiz (7)

He was involved in the game for most parts, either for creating a chance or for getting involved in a midfield battle. Went quiet in the later stages when the game went physical.

Ezgjan Alioski

Ezgjan Alioski (5.5)

A disappointing evening for Alioski, whose final product let him down once again. Got into offside positions when he could have timed his runs.

Jack Harrison (6)

Showed glimpses of what he is capable of, but never brought consistency to his game.

Kemar Roofe (6)

His work rate was admirable, however, unfortunately, he didn’t get much service in the box to feed from.

Subs

Patrick Bamford (Subbed on after 90 mins) (N/A)

No time to make an impact.

Pontus Jansson (Subbed on after 88 mins) (N/A)

Came on for the injured Berardi and had no time to have an impact.
