Solid Gordon, Poor Ntcham – The best and the worst rated Celtic stars vs St. Mirren

Celtic player ratings vs St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership

Scottish champions Celtic had to settle for a point against St.Mirren after Olivier Ntcham got a first-half red card to make it very tough for Brendan Rodgers’ men. After the red card, it was the home side that created most of the clear cut chances with a support of a vibrant crowd behind them.

All in all, a disappointing night for the Hoops who were expected to win this game and further close the gap on league leaders Hearts. It was a lethargic display overall, so the away side should count themselves a bit lucky to have come away with a point against an improved St.Mirren side under the new manager.

Here’s how the Celtic players fared in the game:

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon (7/10)

Made two to three fine saves to keep the score level when the home side were really pushing the accelerator.

Kristoffer Ajer

Kristoffer Ajer (6/10)

A steady performance at the back. Could have done better but showed calmness to get the ball away.

Filip Benkovic (6/10)

A decent enough performance on his debut. Got replaced at the hour mark by Leigh Griffiths.

Dedryck Boyata (7/10)

A solid night at the back for Belgian. He almost scored from his header, only for it to be cleared off the line.

James Forrest (6.5/10)

Tried to move forward and was successful at times in beating players and get into good positions. But the movements in the box weren’t too good.

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney (5.5/10)

An off night for the youngster overall. That being said, he was absolutely taken out by the challenge of Ryan Edwards in the first minute of the game, which could have ruffled up the left-back.

Scott Brown (6.5/10)

Was slow to start with but picked up in the second half when Celtic had to play with ten men. He read the game well.

Olivier Ntcham (3.5/10)

Started the game badly an iffy and needlessly got the second yellow to get sent off in the first-half.

Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor (5.5/10)

A quiet night for McGregor.  He was static in his movements and produced a tame finish when given the opportunity.

Tom Rogic (5/10)

A frustrating display from Rogic who never looked settled in the game, let alone make probing runs in behind.

Odsonne Edouard (5.5/10)

Tried to come deep to link up the play but wasn’t able to make the movements to threaten the opposition defence.

Subs

Leigh Griffiths (Subbed on after 60 mins) (6.5/10)

Changed the complexion a little bit by being the strike partner of Edouard. Scored the goal in injury time, only for it to be ruled offside.

Ryan Christie (Subbed on after 87 mins) (N/A)

No time to make an impact.
