Simply Not Good Enough – 3 Players Manchester United Should Definitely Loan Out

Share

With over £100million worth of transfer fees in players sitting on the Manchester United bench every other league game, it shows the level of competition within the ranks as far as getting playing minutes goes.

While a couple of big players can still count the number of playing minutes they have been opportune to see this term, some talented bunch haven’t been able to get deserved playing time and might have to go in search of it, on a temporary basis.

The depth in the squad means Mourinho wouldn’t be bothered if a couple of his charges decides to go further for their development and growth away from the Theatre of Dreams come January, and here are 3 of such players who badly need to.

Memphis Depay

If the one-time PSV hot property will finally rediscover his once-upon-a-great form under Jose for now remains to be seen. The gaffer has declared that the Dutch youngster is in his plans, but Depay is yet to get in tune on the pitch.

He hasn’t played half an hour in any of United’s 11 games this season, and it’s not likely his fortune changes overnight. Playing him is more or less an experiment for Jose, and that won’t be enough for Depay to prove his quality. 12 minutes of league game aren’t enough.

A loan move away to any of the mid-table sides could do the trick come January. These clubs will be willing to see what one of the most sought after players of last year’s summer can bring to the table. And just maybe a change in scenery is what Depay needs to get his form back on track again. Time is running out and the board is already considering selling him. It might just be a little too early for that.

Loan him!!!

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

The versatile teenager is yet to make a single league appearance this season in the Premier League and hasn’t played 90 minutes in both of his Europa League and EFL features.

The Dutch youngster is close to putting pen to paper for a new deal and was retained by Jose in the summer while a few of his fellow Academy graduates were sent on loan. He is currently ahead of Darmian in the pecking order as he is right behind Valencia.

However, with Coleman a top January target for Mourinho, Timothy’s playing time will be drastically reduced if the Everton man or another right back arrives. He’d do fine playing regularly at an English topflight side or even in the Championships, it’s all about the experience here.

Phil Jones

Perennial injury-stricken England international Jones has made just 10 league appearances since the start of last season.

Although he is set to return later this month having been missing in action for months due to a knee ligament injury, chances are that his Manchester United future is not guaranteed.

Perhaps a loan move by January to get frequent playing time after he returns to full fitness will help him get back to his best. Jones could do with a lot of football at this stage of his injury-laden career.
