Manchester United were once again very poor as they did enough to manage a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s side are struggling to win games on a consistent basis and are in dire need of positive results.
The Red Devils have also been very leaky at the back this season and have barely looked threatening going forward. Mourinho did bring in a couple of new additions in the summer but they haven’t really made a huge impact.
Striker Romelu Lukaku has also endured a very poor campaign so far and has looked nothing like the forward that once terrorised defenders. Mourinho is certainly going to need to sign a new striker to ease the pressure on the Belgian.
The manager should take a look at Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek. The Serie A striker has been in good form for his side this season. He has scored 10 goals in 13 league appearances for the club. According to the Express, Chelsea had made a £40million bid for the player but the move never really materialised. But it’s Manchester United who are in desperate need of a new striker and should definitely beat their rivals to his signing should they come back for him in January.
He has looked extremely dangerous going forward and is also a proper team player. Piatek has averaged 4.1 shots per game in the Serie A as well and has been a constant threat in front of the goal. Lukaku has often been criticised for his poor first touch and control on the ball but Piatek is quite the opposite. He possesses immaculate ball-retention abilities and can easily beat defenders.
He will certainly fit into Jose Mourinho’s pragmatic style of football as well. Piatek will surely thrive alongside the likes of Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford. Manchester United need a new striker at the moment and should definitely make a move for Piatek in January. The 23-year-old will take the pressure off Romelu Lukaku and serve as a long-term option for the club.
