Cardiff City

Signing this £75,000-a-week Chelsea star would be a huge statement of intent by Cardiff – Warnock must get him

Why Cardiff City must go all out for Victor Moses in January

According to the Daily Mirror, Victor Moses is the latest Chelsea star who is considering his future at Stamford Bridge after being frozen out of the team by manager Maurizio Sarri. The Nigerian isn’t the only player to be unsettled at Chelsea as Gary Cahill, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also considering exits due to a lack of regular game time.

Victor Moses, 27, has played just 26 minutes of Premier League football this season under Sarri, who has switched the formation to a flat back-four unlike his predecessor Antonio Conte’s back-three system.

Moses was a regular fixture under Conte, playing as a right wing-back in the Italian’s preferred 3-4-3 system. Truly, Conte got the best out of Moses during his two-year tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Now, Moses finds himself out of favour under Sarri, having made just five appearances across competitions this season. Although the £75,000-a-week star is likely to get his chance in the cup competitions, January would be the ideal time for Moses to exit Stamford Bridge if he intends to enjoy regular minutes on the pitch.

Victor Moses

Given Moses’ situation at Chelsea, Cardiff City would be wise if they make a move for him in January.

Cardiff City have struggled in the Premier League since gaining promotion and although they bagged their first win of the season against Fulham, they need to add more quality players if they are to beat the drop.

Quite clearly, Cardiff are in dire need of a couple of quality additions and Neil Warnock should eye a Premier League-proven player in January. Harry Arter and Joe Ralls have formed a good partnership in the heart of the midfield and the duo has kept the ball moving effectively. However, Victor Camarasa, after a bright start to the season, has faded a bit and that has cost the team dearly.

Victor Moses would be an inspired signing for Cardiff, whose priority would be to first avoid relegation from the top-flight. Moses is a versatile player and is adept at playing on either flank, as a wing-back or a secondary striker. He has the ability to create goals in plenty using his defence-splitting through passes and can find the back of the net as well.

A quality finisher, the Nigerian also possesses the ability to drive at opponents with his dribbling skills and can cause problems with his sharp movement and intelligent link-up play.

Cardiff are in desperate need of more energy and dynamism in the final third and Moses might be the ideal man.

So without any second thoughts, Warnock must break the bank for Moses in January as the 27-year-old could prove to be a difference-maker.
