Sign Them Up Pedro Caixinha – Two Ruthless Finishers Rangers Should Look To Sign To Challenge Celtic Next Season

Rangers Must Sign These Two Quality Finishers In The Summer

Rangers look set to finish the season as the third-placed team in the Scottish Premiership on their return to the big league. The Glasgow club haven’t had the best of the season by any stretch of the imagination and a lot of work needs to be done in the summer if they are to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic in the upcoming season.

One of the main reasons for their failings this season has been the misfiring attack, with none of their frontline attackers getting into the double figures on the scoring charts in the Premiership.

Veteran forward Kenny Miller has top scored in the league for the Gers with just nine strikes this season, while Martyn Waghorn has only found the net six times in Scotland’s top flight. £1.5 million summer signing Joe Garner has only five goals so far.

And that is reason enough to convince new boss Pedro Caixinha to enter the transfer market for a striker who knows how to find the back of the net. His need for a new forward should be heightened by the fact that Miller’s contract is set to expire in just over a month. Keeping that in mind, here are two strikers that could solve the Gers’ woes up front if they are pursued in the summer:

Liam Boyce

The 26-year old striker has had an impressive season so far for Ross County and has attracted interest from fellow Premiership sides Hearts and Hibernian.

Boyce has scored 16 strikes from 30 appearances in the Scottish top division, while also setting up five more goals for his teammates and has been one of the main reasons for Ross County surviving relegation. The fact that the Northern Irishman’s contract expires at the end of the next season, makes him an attractive option as he may well be available on the cheap.

The Gers have experienced his abilities first-hand when the 26-year old led the line admirably for Ross County in a 1-1 draw at the Ibrox earlier this year. Regarded as one of the most complete forwards in the division, Boyce could prove to be an excellent summer signing for Rangers.

Teemu Pukki

This one may anger the Gers’ faithful considering that Pukki played for Celtic for two years, but could prove to be worth it in the longer run and is definitely an option that they should look at.

Having left the Scottish Champions to join Danish side FC Brondby back in the summer of 2014-15, the 27-year old has been excelling and has had a brilliant season so far. Pukki has netted an impressive 25 goals from 38 appearances across all competitions this season and has also registered 10 assists so far, helping his side to a second-place in the Danish Superliga.

Pukki has a contract with Brondby that will expire in the summer of 2018, and the club may be willing to sell him for a cut-price deal rather than lose him for free. And the striker himself would be wanting to prove Celtic wrong and what better way to do it by starring for their Old Firm rivals.
