Sign Him Up! Why Manchester United Have To Go All Out For This Last Chance To Rebuild The Team

Manchester United have officially admitted showing interest in Barcelona’s Spanish International midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The transfer fee that David Moyes has offered the Spanish club is £25 million and it is not for a good reason that Moyes is determined to bring the player to England.

Cesc Fabregas has always been the player every manager would crave for. His attacking style of playing, goal-scoring ability, defence-splitting through passes for his mates have made him such a desired midfielder.

We cannot recall Manchester United having a play maker who dictates the game for a while now. Although the likes of Scholes and Giggs were helping out Carrick in a bit part manner until last season, with Scholes hanging his boots and Giggs too vulnerable to take the burden thought-out the campingn, United certainly needs a midfield orgastrater. The likes of Anderson, Cleverley and Phil Jones can only stand up to be a useful squad players while United need someone alongside Carrick to create chances for their forwards –  a robust player sooner than later.

Someone like Fabregas, who can add new dimensions to the midfield with Carrick. Someone with a divergent but reciprocating approach to the game. Whereas Carrick controls the game deep down the midfield, Fabregas will govern in the attacking half behind Van Persie and Kagawa. A deadly combination which can prove to be destructive for the oppositions.

Last year, after the inclusion of Van Persie, we saw Rooney in an attacking position behind RVP. Whereas Persie scored 26 times in his 38 appearances, Rooney managed only 12 goals. But surprisingly, Rooney had 10 assists last season, which is a bit odd for a striker of Rooney’s class. Going by the recent comments from David Moyes that he would only think of Rooney this season if Van Persie remains absent, the forward will hardly have any reasons to stay at Old Trafford.

So, Moyes can capitalise on Fabregas if Rooney departs and with Cesc’s natural attacking flair and a knack to score goals, he will be a reason for opponent’s jitters.

Though after the release of Thiago Alcantara, Barcelona will be least responsive to sell Fabregas at a price of £25 million, but a substantial bid from United may change the scenario drastically. Quoted by the Independent, 

In an interview recorded on Monday night, before United’s bid for Fabregas was submitted, the Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, said: “We are a buying club, not a selling club.” Fabregas is about to learn if Rosell really means that.

United have some serious hurdles to overcome if they are to bring Fabregas to Old Trafford and the odds are set against it. But there have been more insurmountable challenges.
