Should Manchester United Recall This 20-year Old In January From His Loan Deal?

Share

There have been a lot of stories about talented youngsters that weren’t ready just yet to contribute to their big teams, or didn’t have any room due to other proven stars, but were way above the pack in the minor teams, so keeping them there could hurt their progress due to the lack of real competition.

When that’s the case, you have two risky options that may or may not work out well for either side, as you can sell the prospect with a buy – back clause on his contract or you can just loan them to a weaker side where he’ll be able to get some consistent playing time and develop his game while you still own his rights.

However, sometimes the latter doesn’t work because the team that receives the youngster changes his manager or just doesn’t count with the kid either, and wind up hurting his game and his confidence instead of giving him a chance to grow as a player.

But this time the case is quite different. ManchesterUnited, not very surprisingly, are having some serious troubles as they are constantly failing in the Premier League. They are already eight points behind the league leaders Liverpool and it is expected that the manager might bring some new names in January to boost his title challenge from then onwards. But the problem has just been made easy by one of the on-loan youngsters – Andreas Pereira. The reports are suggesting that the attacking midfielder is ready to cut his loan spell short if he’ll get regular playing time under Jose Mourinho.

Andreas Pereira left Manchester United’s academy to go to Granada on loan, and since then, he has 9 starts to his name for the Spanish side and is reportedly very happy with his time. But Pereira, who has proven to be an extremely talented player since his days at the PSV Eindhoven academy, is ready to cut his loan spell short if the Devils are ready to offer him the first team opportunity at first place.

Pereira – considered as one of the best prospects in the sport – has played every single game for Granada but one and this speaks the fact that how important he has been for the club. Although he is yet to score a goal, his presence in the team has been phenomenal.

The 20-year-old is finally getting his share on the field, so the big question right now would be: Should Manchester United actually recall him to the first team? This won’t be an easy question to answer, but we’ll give it a shot.

Actually, Mourinho’s side needs all the help that they can get in order to change their luck around right now. However, the stubborn Portuguese boss isn’t always quite receptive with players that he doesn’t ask for, and given how Andreas has performed so this season, it’ll be very surprising if he gets any chance to do something at all.

Even if he’s shown his talent and we actually believe that he’s a solid player overall, we think the best move for Andreas Pereira right now would be to stay with Granada for the rest of the season, as this would be the club where he can show what he can do and get the attention of other clubs that could actually use him in the future.
