Should Arsenal Buy This “New Zidane” From Lyon?

So the Champions League spot is secured for next season and now nothing should hold back Wenger to spend big cash in the transfer window. But knowing Wenger, we are still sceptical about his breaking the bank and many fear that he may lose sight of the big starts that are being linked with the Gunners and instead settle for the medium level options.

And then to top it all, Jovetic and Higuain are already being linked with other clubs and as the Arsenal fans have been used to seeing, may ultimately opt for someplace else which promises them more money. So along with the big stars, who are still more of a delusion, what the fans should do is keep track of all the youngsters who are being monitored by Wenger, especially from Ligue 1, for they have the more realistic chance of ending up at the Emirates.

One such player is Clement Grenier, who has quite impressed during this season with Lyon and is rumoured to being watched by the Arsenal scouts. Wenger has openly stated that he is keeping a close eye on the player and that Grenier reminds him of Samir Nasri.

He has enjoyed a stupendous season with the club, scoring six times from 32 appearances across all competitions. He is extremely capable to play in the right side of the midfield or as the second striker and is blessed with a powerful long range shot, extremely adept in dead ball situations.

But all this man hunting of Wenger may suddenly end for Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has already announced that the club would be demanding a fee of £31m for the 22 year old, way more than what Arsenal values him to be. But then we all know that when a transfer goes through, it depends on a lot of factors, specially the intent of the player.

Therefore Wenger and the Arsenal fans may still keep their fingers crossed and hope to go through with the transfer in the summer.
