Serie A Team Of The Week – Juventus Duo Lead The Way

Share

In a week that saw some excellent showing for the “Difensori”, The Milanese clubs had their saying in the title race they aren’t even part of! Let’s see who made it to our “team of the round” this week.

GK – Gigi Buffon (Juventus): It was Milan vs Buffon at the Meazza this Sunday! If not for the veteran’s heroics, who knows if Juve could have managed to grab those 3 points against an unlucky Milan.

Defender – Davide Astori (Cagliari): The Italian international continued his fine form this week with a solid showing against Di Natale & co., not just this, but also providing a lovely assist for Ibarbo’s opener.

Defender – Shkodran Mustafi (Sampdoria): Few who managed to stop the attacking threat of Torino this season, and Samp has Mustafi to thank for that! Looks like that “Maanschaft” call was totally a major boost for the German form!

Defender – Alessandro Lucarelli (Parma): Once again the Parma captain lead with example, putting another solid defensive showing and keeping Parma’s positive streak running.

Defender – Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus): Marked Pazzini totally out of the game, and knew how to get his team out of pressure with his calmness and assurance. His off the line clearance on Kaka’s ball a game changer!

Defender – Luca Antonelli (Genoa): Combined well with Sculli to score his team opener, always pushing forward down that left flank, and rarely out of position defensively.

Midfielder – Esteban Cambiasso (Inter): A show of experience by the “Cuchu”, always in the right place on the right time, and his duel with De Rossi was a good one to follow all game long.

Midfielder – Ricardo Montolivo (AC Milan): Dictated the play well from his anchor position with style and vision, and his substitution proved fatal for the Seedorf’s team.

Midfielder – Stefano Sturaro (Genoa): The “Grifoni” best man on the field against Catania with no doubt, energetic and always looking for the dribble, topped his performance with a deserved goal.

Midfielder – Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina): One of the best players currently in Serie A failed once again to help the Viola win their game despite all his efforts, the defenders of Lazio had hard times dealing with his talents and pace all game long.

Striker – Okaka (Sampdoria): Fine showing by the ex.Romanista after a long spell on the sidelines, grabbing a goal and providing a great assist to his teammates in Turin.

Honorable mentions: Gabriel Paletta & Walter Gargano (Parma), Rolando (Inter), Rafael (Verona) , Lorik Cana (Lazio) & Agim Ibraimi (Cagliari).
