Serie A Team Of The Week: Inter Milan Veteran Esteban Cambiasso Involved Yet Again

Share

In a week that saw Asamoah’s screamer move Juve one step closer to the Scudetto, Roma’s hopes vanish with a killer Callejon header and Parma continue their magnificent unbeaten record, our Serie A fanatic “Haytham Mohamed” picks this round’s “team of the week”.

GK – Simone Scuffet (Udinese): The young Italian managed to keep a clean sheet against Balotelli and co. to justify Prandelli’s invitation to the pre World Cup camp.

Defender – Nicolas Spolli (Catania): The experienced Argentine was the best player on the pitch, winning most of his aerial duels and keeping Cagliari at bay, still his efforts weren’t enough to lift his team from their relegation threat.

Defender – Mario Yepes (Atalanta): The veteran Colombian frustrated Klose all game long with his physicality and roughness, to help Atalanta to a famous win at the Olimpico.

Defender –Andrea Ranocchia (Inter): A rare start for the frog, still he looked sharp and was always first on every challenge, completely neutralized Immobile’s threat.

Defender – Raul Albiol (Napoli): Calm and anticipating, and always there to cover on the howlers of Fernandez, was the best player in the San Paolo this Sunday.

Midfielder – Kwadwo Asamoah (Juventus): Scored a contender for the “goal of the season” with an amazing skill and a well-placed powerful shot, but that was just the highlight of his game as he completely owned that left flank alongside Paul Pogba.

Midfielder – Esteban Cambiasso (Inter): For the 2nd consecutive week the Argentinian makes the team of the week with yet another great showing in the midfield, his assist to Palacio was delightful to watch.

Midfielder – Ibrahima Mbaye (Livorno): The Inter loanee managed a double with his well-timed bursts forward and excellent positioning, still, it wasn’t enough to stop the Samp from demolishing his team in the 2nd half.

Midfielder – Antonio Cassano (Parma): The architect behind Parma’s amazing 15 unbeaten games, “Fantantonio” was involved in both plays that lead to his team goals, and he was so unlucky to see the 2nd one hit the woodwork before Schelotto finished it.

Striker – Okaka (Sampdoria): Another great showing by the ex-Parma striker since his return from injury, this time scoring the 3rd goal to help the “Doriani” overturn a first half defeat into a four goal win to maintain his place in our team for the 2nd week running.

Honorable mentions: Pepe Reina & Fawzy Ghoulam (Napoli), Allan (Udinese), Roberto Soriano & Nenad Kristicic’ (Sampdoria), Mattia Cassani (Parma) & Paul Pogba (Juventus).
